The sigelei 20W doesn't allow you to set a wattage below 7W's. So if I want to vape a liquid on it that I normally vape on an SVD at 6W's or 6.5W's. Am I 'up the creek' so to speak? Or, does the fact that it gives a steady DC output unlike the SVD which has pulse width modulation, mitigate against that because the signal doesn't fluctuate on a sigelei 20W like it does on a PWM device?

You can't vape at anything lower than 7W.

And most of the time you can't even vape that low unless you have very high resistance atomizers. The SXxxx chips, like the DNA chips, doesn't have step-down circuitry. There is only so low below the charge of the battery that it can go. For instance, if your battery is fully charged (4.2v), the 20W won't let you go much lower than that, so even if it's set at 7W, you'll likely be vaping at around 12.

But because the 20W provides a clean DC signal, unlike PWM devices, you can vape at much higher wattages than you may be used to.

Watch PBusardo's review of the 20W. He explains exactly what's going on and demonstrates it clearly.

If you mean on a Sigelei 20W, then yes, I know, I already acknowledged that in my opening post.

Yes I am aware of these limitations which is why I asked the question.

This is what I was wanting further confirmation on.

I have watched this earlier today (again) as I was still considering getting one.

Get one if you're in the market for a non-PWM VW MOD. It really is worth it. It gives me the most satisfying vape I've had. I use it every day and love it. I doubt you'll be let down.

I vape stuff at 15+ watts that I couldn't even use at 7W with my PWM MODS. The clean signal makes everything much smoother.

This is really heartening to hear. I've literally spent Friday & yesterday evening & most of today googling all over the shop about pulse width modulation over 'flat current'. Including looking at Pbusardo's old video from 2012 specifically on this subject as well as re watching his Sigelei 20w review (& RiP Trippers review).

But the question I really wanted answers to was only being alluded to. So this is great to hear. I just wanted to be sure that if I use the same clearomiser with the same resistance on the attie head & the same juice that putting it up to 7w in a device with a flat signal won't fry it. I'm also using Nautilus's & nothing else now so that means I'm limited in terms of ohms to 1.8Ω max because they don't make any higher resistance atomiser heads*.

*They did make a limited run of 2.0Ω atties for a supplier in the US, but they told me that that was all they would make & beyond that one off occasion, they would only be manufacturing 1.6Ω & 1.8Ω atomisers from here on in.

Have the same experience with my 20watt, I usually use carto-tanks and anything above 8watts on my Sig Zmax I get a burnt taste while I can go to 9 on the 20watt with no burnt taste.(possibly higher haven't tried)

What, on the Sigelei 20w? So what did you vape them at on a PWM device?

I've never tried a Kayfun on a PWM device, but when I tried to use 2.5Ω(!) heads on a ProTank 2, there are some juices I couldn't vape any higher than 7W, and other I couldn't vape at all.

The highest I could vape with a PWM device was 9W, and that was with a 2.5Ω coil.

The clean signal makes all the difference in the world.

you may find the vape a little "Hot" on a fresh battery since the 20w doesn't have step-down circuitry... after the battery gets below 4v. it should be fine. The 20w does a great job for signal quality I have been actually using it more than (gasp!) my provari lately just because I like the constant battery feedback on the screen. It's a little longer, and a bit heavier but i got used to it in a couple of days.

I just wanted to thank everyone in this thread who has answered so far. You helped allay my main concern with buying a Sigelei 20W & I've now ordered one. Only with their delivery speed I'll probably receive it next year. I still hate the way it looks mind you.

@PONKAW
You realise you'll have to change your user name when you go into the witness protection program. Because lets face it, after your Provari comment the other cult members will be after your blood..... :D

Glad I could help. The Sigelei 20W may well be the best value on the market right now for VW MODs. The only thing I don't like is their insistence on laser etching their very bland technology company logo front and center underneath the button. Logos can definitely help the aesthetics of some MODs, but it has to be an original logo and not a clone of countless other corporate logos. It cheapens the MOD just a bit, IMO.
