I know what you mean. I've been paying attention to what others are doing to the 20, but I don't have the cajones yet to rip it apart and attempt anything. It would be great if you post some pics, good or bad. Good luck with it.

BTW, thanks for the reply on the CoOp thread. I'm still sitting on the fence, and need to make up my mind soon:thumb:

I don't think it's gonna happen, this thing won't come out. I'll have to give it a shot some other time.

I got a new sigelei #20 that I need to work on. It's seems to miss fire and shock me on occasion... I need spend my time on that. Any good ideas? Ive sceen a few posts and videos to mess with springs and switches, but I'm not sure one is the best.

My sigelei #9 is the same way, just doesn't seem to fire true all the time. Sometimes you press the button and coils are red hot...other times there barley going. My natural works solid all the time compared to my sigelei's... but I like the look and feel of the sigeleis more.

I really like the feel and size of the 20, and I think I'm a thumb button guy at heart. I don't have super mod skillz yet, that's why I'm hanging out with you guys. I can steal all of your good ideas for myself :D There have been some good mod suggestions for the 20 posted here, but I can't tell you which are the better ideas.

The #19 is the best of the series. (ya..I said it). The basic mods to make it really shine are not that difficult. IMO Stellar vape value.

+1 on that. I just ordered one of the new Nzonic heads for my older one, and I'm considering getting another #19 ("B" model with the newer top spring setup). After some simple modifications, it's become my new favorite mechanical. Works better now than a couple of my other mechs that cost up to 4X as much.

... as Todd says in his #19 review: " Crakin'-good MOD"

I was actually dreading the shipment of my #19 after all I had read about magnet this, switch that etc. However, I have modded mine with all brass battery contacts and It will not be leaving my rotation anytime soon. It is truly the best mechanical to leave China thus far IMO.

This will be my first 19, so I'll be paying closer attention to this and the 19 Tips & Tricks thread.

Maybe time for me to find that thread and get a #19, I've done everything to this #8 except replace the spring, which really should have been the first thing I did. Even sanded with 2000 grit and polished with 3M rubbing compound, so it now has a extra fine brushed finish.

    .
I also have a #8 and have done everything except for the spring, do you have any pictures of your work on the #8? I have started sanding the top cap and bottom cap but would like to see the whole thing when done.

I haven't taken any pictures, but mine looks the same as this, except I still have the spring and could not remove the switch housing: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...93-modding-sigelei-8-maximum-performance.html

I did multiple voltage under load tests, before and after modding, and honestly the change was barely noticeable. I had a ~0.7V drop every test before modding (standard stuff, 1.8ohm coil, 18350 at 4.2V). I sanded and polished to a mirror brass finish on the contacts, and the drop is now ~0.6V. So I still think the spring is most of the drop, beyond the batteries internal resistance.

Be really careful sanding the outside of the spring cup and the head of the switch pin, the tolerance is very tight, and if you go barely beyond removing the plating to show brass, it won't make proper contact between the cup and pin.

    Basic Stuff Really.

Here is my bottom bottom with brass pan head screw as the battery connection.

However, I would like to address a misconception on the switch problem. Its been said that the side of the switch needs to make contact and the tolerances were too great. That is not the case. There are two points of contact on the #19 Button assembly that need to be addressed. The threading between the brass pin and the SS Surface between the button and the button housing. If there is glue on the threading of the pin OR if the surface of the button is dirty or does not make good contact then you will have misfires/voltage drop. I added a brass washer to mine to help prevent this and I think it works even better. But maybe I just think it does:D

Thanks for the info, I think that washer is a good idea. I've also seen mods where people put a wire traveling down in-between the delrin threads which I think might have been to accomplish the same thing.

How did you get the screw on the switch into the base? Just drill a hole then screw in? Or did you you a dye to make threading on the switches base? I don't have many tools and shop items laying around so I'm trying to do it the easiest way, but still have it work good.

I like the mod I saw with the spring removed and the switched turned into a magnetic switch... I need to find that and read over it again to see if it's doable with what I got.

Gummy Bare, I did use a drill press and tapped the brass portion like a lot of other folks. If you don't have the taps etc, You could drill a hole as strait as you can, and buy some brass wood screws of a slightly larger diameter. You should be able to drive one in without threads that way but that's just a idea.
