Looking at the strip down with more pictures on facebook, it maybe possible to swap the top and bottom pins with a long brass bolt inserted from the bottom, it could also float, so screw the atty on first then let the hot spring and the battery push it up to make contact with the atty :)

I see you noticed the flaw in your thinking here, but I don't think your to far off of a possibility.

You just need to isolate the two shafts from each other but also connect them. It would be a little more involved but very doable IMO.

Actually I think your right, its not impossible, just need to come up with something, back to the drawing board :)

What are we looking for in pin travel, 1-1.5mm?
Would need something like a double bucket, Micro spring, strong but thin to carry current, Pin/minimal shaft/flattened bottom to keep in place.

Bucket needs recessed bottom to allow constant area for switch contact and shield maximum pin drop point from lower (battery contact).

I just thought it was ironic that the part that makes the 20 almost non function is the same part that makes the 19 almost 100% reliable with the addition of the NR wire.

I understand how they both work and that both can also use some tweaking to get maximum performance, and did not mean to criticize anyone or the mods.

No one thought you were criticizing. We want to help and don't want to give misleading information. I thought you had it bass ackwards. Your sense of irony is astounding, tho. :p

Thanks for your input, 1.5 mm should be plenty but I'm not sure I fully understand your idea

Ummm not sure that's the way to go, no doubt someone cleverer than me will come up with a way to adjust the center pin when more people have them :)
Crxess is a pretty smart guy, and had a great idea. He might solve the problem and post here in a minute or two. There are plenty of other smart modders on this thread too, so we might end up with our choice of several possible solutions :)

Sorry if I came across as kind of dismissing the idea, no doubt he is alot smarter than me that's why I wasn't convinced by the idea as its more than I'm capable of doing with my limited skills, being fairly new round here the last thing I want to do is offended anybody :)

Pardon my ignorance, but what feature or characteristic makes a spring a hot spring?

It's not a feature really, but a characteristic of the spring based on material and gauge. Several mods recently, like the DrawTube, and apparently this #20 are using a steel spring. Not ideal, as a steel spring has lower electrical conductivity, and potential slower response to overcurrent. Typically a brass spring, or plated brass spring is the best option. The gauge, number of coils, etc. determine how much current the spring can handle, so it's important to have the proper balance of safety vs. resistance.

If you need more explanation, the atmizoo site does a good job of it.

Not at all, no offense taken...I'm still a modding dummy too, but learning fast thanks to these guys :toast:
