...I'm still confused as why the Chinese feel that they must chrome plate everything, including contact points ?

We could do a 'reverse co-op', collect up all the dust we file off, post it back to them in bulk.

They'd get the idea... Or maybe just make new mods with it... :)

The gap on the Sig #20, tried loads of attys, always a gap grrr

The vendor where I purchased mine from is getting in spares such as 510's etc, he's also looking at reducing the 510 center pin :)

That gap would bug me too.

Is this also an issue with the #19? I don't see any mention of it....
but my search-fu is weak.

No you can adjust the 19 :)

That's my #20 with a igo l on it, and I know the igo's are known for a long 510, but that igo been modded and has had a good 1mm ground off it, its like that with most attys on it :(

My guess is that they use brass because it's very easy to machine and very easy on tool bits, but they don't want customers complaining that the brass oxidizes in air and needs to be cleaned, so they plate it.

Anyway I was wondering if there was enough pin to grind down and tap out for a small brass screw, the modified stock pin could be held in place with a little epoxy. I'm just not sure if there is enough meat and space.

I thought the same thing, much like this image of a GP center pin, but with the screw facing up:

i can verify that the gp paps center pin assy in the picture above will screw into a #8 top cap. only the outside plastic threads match up so you have to use all 3 peices

******WARNING*********WARNING*************WARNING* *******

There is an issue with the 510 ring. It is NOT making good ground contact on some #20's

More to follow
Ok, wanted to get the warning up first before more people trash a Mod.....or worse.

I got 2 units. One is working fine with issues noted in post #389

The other refuses to make ground through the threads of the Brass 520 to the SS Head.
Still thinking this through. Maybe a wire brushing?

I have now read of 2 Full failures - 1 here - 1 in the UK forums went full on and fried.

Do NOT LEAVE THESE UNATTENDED with the battery in full contact until you are positive it is working properly.

ETA - RSST issue is the RSST - it also has issues on most Provari due to tight tolerances. A tap for the RSST is advised to re-cut the threading.

ETA 2 - BRB> going to test wire brush to clean contacts.
Okay - fix works

Use the back side of a butter knife to remove the 510. lay it into 2 opposing slots and unscrew.(no scratching the mod)

Dremmel with wire wheel. Buff into Cap threads to clean(medium speed) Buff just around the opening where the 510 rest.
(Low speed) Buff the 510 brass threads and under lip.

Assemble and tighten good with Butter knife back side.

Now ohms out at .000 as should be.

All devices with adjustable pin - Pull pin down slightly.

All Tank type devices - adjust tension to allow Center contact Depth to reach 510 center pin.

Waiting on replacement spring? Strip a copper wire/18ga or so (2" length) - wrap around top coil and down to wrap bottom coil. Works great for Temporary fix.

Best of luck to all knew owners.

ETA - 510 inner threading also has burrs - while removed use any 520 threaded device to chase/clean threads from top & bottom.

Vape Mail came in from richman.. One day early.. This thing is tiny. Put my atty on and yes lil gap there. No biggie. I think the brass button matches the brass ring nicely

Nice wee things arnt they, as for the gap its horses for courses I suppose, me personally can't live with it, but apart from that its a cracking little mod :)
