To be honest IDK for sure.....the pitch is 1.0 but the diameters are screwy....certain parts fit between the 19 and 20 but others don't....the treading is all over the place and most threads are squared off and fairly incomplete.

I'm pretty sure this particular location is supposed to be 21.5mm x 1.0, but I would get one to test fit and measure.

I have a lathe so I can accommodate some weirdness.

The first ones I made out of aluminum and I matched the thread diameter of the original top cap. Then I destroyed my 19 tele tubes in the lathe trying to get cute with a chamfer and caught a tool. So I sent it to d9mel and it didn't last long.

I salvaged a portion of my 19 tube to test fit the new adapter and it ended up at 21.4 OD.

Speaking of Lathe, dont you have the HF one? Did I read that a while back? Is it decent?

They are sloppy as all get out.... that being said there a few groups that are into modding them and bring them up to snuff. Since I lost access to my friends Smithy I may get one if a I can't find a old craftsman mini lathe.

I'm thinking the same. I have looked at e-bay and Craig's list with no luck finding one I can afford. The only one that comes close to it, is offered by Northern...And that thing is a beast..

Here maybe this will point you in the right direction.
mini-lathe.com

If you decide to get the HF lathe, best advice I can give is sign up for the email coupons and I bet you will get a 20% or 25% off sometime this year.

If the switch pin is too short then the easiest fix is probably to put a bead of silver solder on the end of it then sand it down to the proper length.

The bottom spring bypass I'm working on may also help because the diameter of the piece that the switch pin contacts may end up being a little larger O.D. than the stock spring cup. I don't know yet, I'm headed to the store now to get that piece.

Widowmaker I'm currently at work what are my options if I sanded down too far

Yeah I have the HF lathe and it does ok if you go threw all the tips and tricks and get it set up decent, but it can be rather limiting.

Good tools go a long way to help, as well as patience on the HF. I typically cut threads turning the headstock by hand with a crank handle, doing so allows you to be able to go nice and slow and makes a world of difference in the quality of the threads (at least for me).

I'm going to upgrade to a smithy granite max, but the little machine shop high torque 8.5x16 looks like a great bench lathe for the money.

Thanx Bap. I'm glued to the link that Tin sent...incredible amount of info there...I'm thinking really hard about taking the plunge...

I'm no machinist but I enjoy tinkering on the lathe. I can't really say anything terrible about the HF and that link is a must have, littlemachineshop.com has some good info as well.

The HF lathe is a good lathe to start on and very upgradeable along the way as funds allow, but if I had to start over and was just looking for a bench lathe and had the cash I would go with the high torque 8.5x16 to begin with. I think in the long wrong it would save you money and a lot of hassle.

Regardless budget for some tooling, and I can't recommend enough a quick change tool post.

I just ordered up a #8, based largely on the reviews and feedback from this thread. I am very impressed. Just FYI, the current coupon code @ Aquavapor is "holiday" and ends @ midnight. 20% off and free shipping.

Subtotal: $34.95
Discount: $6.99
Shipping: $0.00
Sales Tax: $0.00
Total: $27.96

I know Vapor Joe had a sale last week on these that was a little lower ($23.99?), but this says it's the "new" version with a copper spring. Would this new copper spring make the spring removal modification unnecessary?

Aside from sanding some contacts, and putting on some polish - would anyone be so kind as to remind me what else I need to do to this thing to make it hit like a truck?

The * is one of the simplest ones to mod to being a worthy device. Literally just sand your contacts. Replacing the spring helps to a tee tiny degree but most here dont notice the difference. However the copper would be more conductive(i would assume).

Everything else is just cosmetic or preference of functionality, Like the washers on the switch to reduce the throw.

It seemed like that was the case (that the #8 was relatively easy to mod). I like the solid look of the #8, appears as though it would be a smoke machine with a fresh AW IMR 18650. I hope that "new copper spring" does it trick, I would really like to sand and go.

I also snagged up that Nzonic Clone Head and an RSST. Sounds like a great setup for under $70 shipped?

I wonder if there is any tangible performance value to the Nzonic Clone Head, or is it just aesthetics? I liked the look, regardless, but it sounded like there were some small issues with spacing with the #8 and the RSST?

For those of us who were in the second round they offered a discount for the new nzonic head and if you order it before 2pm today it will ship out with your #19. I'm hoping to get mine by Saturday. Pre order is tough man the waiting became insanely long due to Chinese holiday and then production delay. All my messages were answered in a timely mannet. I have the #8 already got an excellent deal from aquavaporcigs on that one. The nzonic head is supposed to fit it also. Starting today its stalk the mailman mode! :D

I agree mrfixit. The wait has been extra long, and I seriously doubt I will venture into pre-order stuff again. But I will say, while I was patiently waiting for my #19 to arrive, I did pick up a k100 and I really like it and want another one. Hoping the #19 will work as is for me, getting the nzonic head as well.

Looks like someone out their has been scaremongering

While researching this specific mod, I just ran across this same pic on Google images and it certainly does look a bit questionable. If that spring gets jammed in the contact position it will certainly fry something. Anything you guys can input to dispel this belief would be appreciated as I really would like to get this mod.

Well, after reading about this just yesterday morning and agreeing it was probably just "scaremongering", the button on my #20 "locked up" yesterday! :glare:

I had just turned the button to lock then back to unlock a few minutes before, but it was firing fine. I then stuck it into the mod holder I have in the center console of my car and drove home (button was on, but never been an issue with any other mod).

I walked into the house and set the #20 on my desk. When I got back from the bathroom, I noticed vapor coming from my RSST...ran over and grabbed the mod and quick undid the telescope. The RSST was quite hot by then, lucky I had a pretty full tank.

The button seems to be in constant fire mode now, not sure what happened internally as I haven't taken it apart (Richman Vapors is going to give me credit for the return).

Just a heads up guys, that #20 button can lock up on ya! Be careful out there.

Obviously the spring has welded itself to one of the pins caused by being pressed on for a long period of time in your center console, the button has a off function for a reason
