what limits me to 3a ?
i dont think the zmax "max correct" is 3a, and the not the battery's for sure.

zmax is 4 amp with stacked batteries, but only 2.5 amp with a single battery. optimum resistance is 2.4 ohm, that gives you 15 watt at 2.5 amp and 6v

also, the zmax wont hold that output for long, probably only the surface charge will carry that much power

If you want 15W from a sigelei Zmax V3 or V5 you need 2x18350. We have a V3 user on the sigelei Zmax Telescopic V3 thread who uses 2x18350 a lot. He could give you some actual information based on real experience. Ask JeremyR. Myself, I have vape at 7.5 watts max and have no need for 2x18350.

What Yzer said.... I had the same problem trying to fire a Vamo V5 (and also some Sigelei that use the same chip) with an Ithaca 1.8ohm @ 15W using a single 18650 and nothing, switched to 2 18350 stacked and voila it worked. when using 2 batteries you are actually feeding about 8.4 volts at full charge so the mod have no problem regulating it down, but if you have a single battery which is 4.2v fully charged the mod wont be able to increase the voltage beyond certain point, not sure exactly what that point is.

Nothing is totally safe when it comes to Lithium(or any chemistry) batteries held in a metal tube made in large quantity in the "peoples "republic of china......that being said id say to check with the manufacturers recommendations as to what type of battery and whether or not to "stack em" . Ive stacked alkaline s in my mag lights for years with no problems but that's a different animal altogether, allot of guys here seem to use stacked batts and have good results and im sure they will join the discussion .my 2 cents
