Try not to use fibreglass wicks. I did an experiment by burning it with a butane lighter and it melts. Whereas for silica wicks, it glows bright red and the fibres are still intact after it cools.

Both of these are used as oven insulation materials and they are collectively known as fibreglass wicks/ropes(silica is glass anyway). If u are getting from places other than mcmaster, ask the seller what percentage is the silica content. You should be getting those that are at least 98% silica.
