I've been using E-Cigs for a year. I decided, after much research to try my hand at building with a kayfun. I kept getting a burnt taste. I'm at about 1.6 ohms using silica. I know it was wicking fine. So...I became suspect of the silica. I've always primed it before using but I tried torching/dry burning a never used coil with silica before I fill the tank. It smokes heavily (even after at least 10 seconds after torching/dry burning) and even caught fire. And the burnt smell is the same that I taste. What are your thoughts? Am I right to think this silica is suspect or could I be doing something wrong? I bought the silica on ebay. I'm using a Vamo V5.

It doesn't sound like silica at all...

What does the smoke smell like?

You can torch silica or put it in a stove flame and it will glow red(like a lantern) but never ever burn, flame or smoke. Stop using it right now, your better off with any cotton you can find or at least try cotton till you reload on some good silica. From a reputable dealer.

It smells like something burning. I've never used cotton....only silica in your average bottom coil atomizers and never seen it smoke/burn like that so I knew something wass wrong. I don't know what this is...but it has that burnt smell and taste even when primed with e-juice. I will not be using it anymore but mostly curious if anyone has had this problem. I will be reporting this seller/item. Thank you for your feedback
