Ive been on genesis attys for a while. just got an oddyseus in the classifieds. i really like it. one thing i am noticing is that i have to replace my wick and coil more often on the silca based atty. Gets very black and crusty, and doesn't feel like its hitting as good. more specifically, it takes a while to get the coils hot enough to vape. my ohms on the oddy are 1.5 with a 3 wrap. Is this the norm? how often do you find you are replacing your wick and coil with Genesis vs Silica based attys?

GG are the best in flavor and hits among silica attys but genesis are better in flavor and longetivity between rebuilds. But gg does have other good traits which genesis does not have like pocket friendly, no tipping and better wicking. For hotter vape on gg, build a lower resistance coil if you are using a fixed voltage mod, I find 1.3ohms best. I rebuild my ody/pene once a week but my genesis can last more than 2 weeks.

SS mesh is about the longest-lasting wick you can use. I've seen them go a month or more; I've re-wrapped them after cleaning them in soapy water and they're about as good as new.

But you don't have to re-coil silica every time. I rinse it all out with hot water, and do several 5-10 second dry burns (depending on resistance and wattage). Then you can just brush the gunk off the coil with an old toothbrush or similar, rinse again and back to vaping.

It also depends on the juice. Darker, sweeter juices gunk up a coil faster.

It depends a lot on your juice. I can use the same build on my Oddy with clear clean juices for over a week, but with my NET tobaccos I have to dry burn after a tank full. The same will happen with dark sweet juices also. All I have to do is take it apart, soak the rebuildable unit in hot tap water for about 5 mins, pat it dry and dry burn and clean and ready for use again. I can clean and dry burn 4-6 times, but because materials are cheap, I just re-do it as often as I like.

Its a give or take, with Genesis, there is more work to making your coil and wick with the Silica types like Odysseus rebuilding takes a few minutes. With good silica you can reuse it a few times even if it gets really crusty. Just torch it.

Because Im a heavy vaporer, I have an extra rebuildable unit and base so I can have one ready to go. With my clear lighter, or fruity juice I can refill and refill for over a week before the taste changes or vapour declines. This might seem like a lot of cleaning, but it beats having to use and toss 4 cartomizers a day to enjoy my delicious tobaccos.

Funny though, in my experience with talking to others who use Genesis, they usually tend to use lighter fruity flavours. I havent met any one that uses Genesis and real tobacco (NET). I wonder how many Genesis users vape naturally extracted tobaccos and how it fairs.

I tried a few high end Genesis atomizers with my NETs and the taste changed way too much, too harsh for me.
