Has anyone had the silicon gasket start to grow when using some flavours in their tank.
I have wasted about 6 gaskets in the last week,They get bigger and the top would not shut or would tear.
I make my own juice,
I have made juice with 70 vg 30 pg from DIYe-Liquids and flavour from makemyvape and it is destroying the gaskets.
Used Ascot vape pg/vg before never had a problem.

Hi and welcome,
Please share which brand(s) and flavour(s) is/are causing problems and the percentages you are using in your mixes.

Where are you located?

Cheers

PG and VG are not likely to damage o-rings and gaskets. It's likely that the gaskets are made from a material that reacts with something else in the liquid. If it grows in size it's probably not made from an approved material or your juice contains something that is damaging the o-rings. Contact the supplier and inquire about the problem.

Years ago there were threads about cinnamon juice making plastic tanks crack. Some juices just aren't compatible with certain materials. That should make you wonder about whether they are good for your throat and lungs.

Grapefruit and Lemonade are on the list below. Metal and glass tanks are your friend.

Sounds like experiment time.
Get some similar silicon gaskets from a hardware store, and see if they react to your ingredients.
Or sacrifice a new gasket, cutting it into 4 pieces, and soak in your 4 ingredients. Then you should see any reaction in a close side by side comparison. And if there is no changes, then it might be the combination of 2. I suspect the flavors.

Best of luck. And welcome.

cheers my wife has already suggested that.
I suspect the white grapefruit as it's the only thing that's new to my juice mix.
But I haven't got any other flavours mixed so I have taken the wife's VPZ lukesky vapor 12% and cut it with 45 ml of my PG/VG as it doesn't need to steep but still a bit to much nicotine for me.
Started vaping about 6 years ago on 18% Nicotine came off 30 cigs a day.
Now on 10 ml of 18% to 100 ml of juice not had the bottle to try nicotine free yet.

Interesting, could it be a combination of VG at too high a temperature? Too much torque on hand tightening of related pcs?
Quik side ques. Is there a parallel bet. VG/PG Ratio & How strong a Recipe Taste?

I was led to believe the VG/PG ratio was for throat hit or cloud.
It is the gasket in the top of the tank so no torque,The gasket inside the sliding part on top for filling the tank SMOK V12.

I have had some eliquids cause o-rings to swell (gasket as you put it). FOr me it seems to be strong mints that do it more than anything else. I just sort of stopped using those flavors.

Sometimes I found if I cleaned the oring and let it dry it shrunk back down fine. Sometimes not though.

re: New users - Put your location in your Profile...
Surprised that you are having difficulties with a silicone compound. Looks like silicone is rated good to excellent in chemical resistance properties. Suggest seeing if you can find a butyl (general rating of excellent) compound gasket material in the proper size.** While your at your gasket store, might as well get another silicone gasket (cost is pennies) and see if the chinese version degradation outcome is identical.

Congratulations on the 6 years!!!!!

I'm at 7 years. Also started at 18mg nic. (I assume you meant 18mg/ml of nic, equal to 1.8% nic.)
You could lower your nic gradually, if you wanted. I went to 12mg after 3 months. The drop to 6 was hard, but nobody made 9. And I was too lazy to mix a 6 and a 12.
Now I'm at 2.5mg. Why? It's easier to get through a couple of hours when I can't vape. And I want control over my addiction!
And if I ever wanted to, or had to quit, I figure it's easier from 2.5. Plus, as I mix my own, my nic stash will last me a long time.

Whatever you vape, it's right for you. (as 210 cigs a week was wrong, deadly and expensive!)

Go, John C, Go!

Thanks for all the help I have been given by many on this site.
I decided to check out the site of the maker of the white grapefruit concentrate and it said add 3% so I think the problem is I'm adding 5%.
But where would we be without blind experimentation, I love grapefruit & pink Lemonade but it started out as tropical lemonade with mango in it but I dropped the mango because of the coconut taste the mango gave it.
I'm sure everyone will stumble upon a great flavour if you make DIY juice.
Just glad it was the gaskets it has damaged and not myself or the coils, So if you don't learn something new everyday life would be boring, Live & Learn

Some flavors can mess up your gear. I guess white grapefruit is out. Trying lime.... Well all the citrus flavors tend to mess up equipment. You may want to try something else.

If you like the while grapefruit, get a tank and mod, you should be able to vape the white grapefruit in that. Make sure what you get is metal, not some other material. Snice I don't live where you do and I don't know your vaping practices, I can't really suggest what but SOMETHING.

Welcome to ECF.

Thanks again for all the idea's being offered I'm very grateful.
After learning about the 3% max on the makers site, I have cut my juice with PG/VG the flavour is still there and after a day vaping the weaker mix it looks like the gasket is undamaged.
So looks like my flavour concentrates will make more juice so win win.
