Hey all,

I know this is sort of a basic question but I've seen a lot of conflicting information, and some things I was a bit confused about. I use the follow: Joye 510 Regular Atomizers, KangerTech ProTank II, and KangerTech T3s. The last two obviously use atomizer heads, while the regular atomizers are just the atomizer piece.

So I've been looking up information, and I think this is what I should do? But I'm not positive... (Also note that I have no access to alcohol as I am 18, and furthermore I have heard that vaporizing alcohol can be dangerous.)

1. Boil water.
2. Drop regular atomizers into the boiling water, as well as the *full* atomizer head except for the removable stem.
3. After letting boil for a bit (how long?) take them out, and allow them to dry before using.

Will this work? Do I have to remove something else from the atomizer heads? Also, a lot of people say to use distilled water instead of tap water... will filtered water from a refrigerator work? I'm not sure I have a good way to distill water... Unless that's easy and I am just an idiot, in which case could someone explain that process to me?

Thanks!

If you decide that you want to use alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) or distilled water, you can get both at any supermarket very cheap and you don't have to be 21 to buy isopropyl alcohol.

For a regular atomizer I boil in tap water for around 15 minutes then soak in alcohol for about an hour then let dry naturally. This not only cleans the atty but is a good way to get rid of a strong flavor that just won't go away. I wouldn't do this with a clearo or protank though.

I just use very hot tapwater repeatedly, but boiling would be optimal.

As coils build up some solids over time, you may want to learn about dry burning by searching here on ECF. After a few cleanings, if the draw is tight, vapor is less or the taste is sharp, a dry burn can extend the useful life of the coil. I check the coil with a magnifying glass every few cleanings and will do a preemptive dry burn if I see buildup. The key to dry burning is to clean the coil once more afterward to remove any remaining ash, and it's flavor.

Good luck with getting good life out of your coils!

Another non-alcoholic way to clean atomizer coils is to use denture cleaning tablets (I strongly recommend getting the unflavored tablets). Just follow the directions on the package--you may need to soak your coils a bit longer than they recommend. Then rinse well with distilled water, or put your coils in a microwavable bowl, cover with distilled water and nuke it all for 10-15 min or so. Just make sure the metal is fully submerged in water before putting it in the microwave oven!!!!
