What would be the best battery to use in this thing? I am confused 15 amps and 20 amps when I am looking to buy a battery. I want either 2500 mah or 3000 mah, but I just want to be sure I am being safe.

That all depends on what wattage/ohms you prefer to use. If you stay at 50watts or less the VTC6 or Samsung 30Q is ok but the VTC5A is a bit better choice. Over 50watts you want a true 25amp battery in a single battery device. You wont get the higher mAh rating but you will get a higher continuous amp discharge rating.

I vape mostly at 30watts or less so the VTC6 and 30Q is a great battery to use. Im only at about half of the amps required.

Run your build through the Ohm's Law calculators. You can find them online. Input just the watts and ohms. It will tell you the amps required. Find a battery that falls well within that range. The closer you get to the battery limits the harder it is on the battery.

For some reason I didn't even think about those cells. $5 is a heck of a price, thanks for the post. I might order some of those next, as all my Sammy blues and VTC4's are over 3 years old now and I can see that they have been losing some capacity when charging in my "LiitoKala Lii-500" & "Xtar VC2" chargers, so I'm gonna replace all my batteries with newer/"better for my style of vaping" ones.

Review of Charger LiitoKala Engineer Lii-500

Im my application i get a tiny bit more vape time from the VTC6 but those are about $6 each. I bought 2 of each from Liion. Including shipping 4 batteries was right at $25 with cases. Currently the VTC6 is out of stock. I got a couple of the last ones they had i guess.

I noticed a big improvement in voltage sag compared to my aging HG2s and WAY better vape time than my old HE2s. IMO either the Sammy or Sony would be a good match in the P80 for those not pushing it to its wattage limits.

I would think either would work, but the 15 amp would have a higher mAh rating for a longer vape time between charges at 12 watts. If you chain vape that might change as you would be pulling more out of the battery quicker, and a 20a battery might work out for you better, last longer between charges, that's just a guess on my part though, I'm not a Battery Guru.

Which battery is better, the samsung 30Q or the Sony Vct6? I am looking at both and the sony is a bit more expensive, just did not know if the Sony was the better battery for some reason of if it matters. Thank you

Either but at the price of the 30Q you cant go wrong. Its will handle 12watts with tons of room to spare. The tests Mooch ran shows they are really close to each other in performance.

Wow, you scared me there for a minute gerrymi (until I just read all of Mooch's post at "Taste Your Juice"), I thought I had recommended the wrong one. Whew !! I was just going by everything I had read from Mooch's various testings. I know that my memory isn't as good as it used to be, and when I read your post above I thought I had "Screwed the Pooch" and you found flaws in my recommended Battery for Mr. 300. I would hate to recommend something to someone and later find out that I was in Error, but I also would want to be told about it as fast as possible too so I could Correct it. I could Never be a reviewer for just that reason, as it would take like Forever and a Day for me to complete a review, as I would want it to be "Air Tight Correct". Thanks for putting that up to read gerrymi.

Run your build through the Ohm's Law calculators. You can find them online. Input just the watts and ohms. It will tell you the amps required. Find a battery that falls well within that range. The closer you get to the battery limits the harder it is on the battery.

Ohm's Law is for determining the draw on a mech mod. Regulated mods work differently. To find your battery current draw on a regulated mod, the formula is:

(maximum wattage you'll use) / (mod cutoff - usually 3.2 V) / (0.9 - estimating 90% board efficiency) / (number of batteries in the mod) = current draw

For @cardsfan300, this would be:

12w / 3.2v / 0.9 / 1 = 4.2A

So any battery with a CDR over 5A will be fine. The Samsung 30 Q (manufacturer - 15A, Mooch - 20A) and the Sony VTC6 (manufacturer - 15A, Mooch - 19A) can both provide more than enough power.

You can check out Mooch's post for a more thorough explanation of the calculation here:

I've had my "Black" P80 for a week now (seems longer though), using it as my prime Power Supple (mod) and I'm here to report that it is running Fantastically Good. Not a problem or worry to be seen. I haven't dropped it yet (fingers and toes crossed) so that's a plus also. It fits so nicely in my hand that I might get more in the near future. I only run this P80 in Power Mode, as I use my HΩ Tech Power Supplies (mods) for TC'ing/TL'ing Kanthal builds. I might try and get 1 of each color of these Great little WisMec devices. I use it with my Black Berserker sitting on top, the same as in that Pic I took on page #14. I'm really happy with my purchase, so far.

Hey 52, I didn't know you were a P80 user too :)

The P80 has been my main all day for nearly 2 months. It just fits me and the way I vape (all day everyday). I do note the battery life is less than my other main, a Smok AL85, but that's okay. Do you use the preheat function? I normally vape at 7.5 watts and have the preheat set to 1 second at 15 watts. It seems to really help the ramp up time and deliver a solid hit. Thats just my experience.

Yup, I just started using the P80's. Nope, I don't use the preheat function at all, as I just use a simple build with 6 wraps of 28g single wire Kanthal. I usually chain vape 3-4 times in a row, and doing that in Power mode the coil temp rises way too much for me to use preheat also. I have mine set at 8 watts right now. Your right, I agree with you, this is a Crackin' little mod. I still get about a day out of my tired old 25R's (3+ years old, used every other day) but have ordered New SANYO 18650GA 3500 mAh batteries (4) to try out and see if battery life improves some. They are only 12A rated, by Mooch, so will fit me Great as I am most always down in the 3A rated range with my wattage settings (7.5 to 10 watts with a 28g .9xΩ - 1.1xΩ coils, depending on mood). The reason I got mine was that I like the Presa 75TC very much, and ricks was promoting these P80's so much that I had to have a look myself. He was right, of course, these P80's fit me Perfectly. Have a good one Figs, and thanks for posting.

The reason I got mine was that I like the Presa 75TC very much

My 2 criteria for "Mod selection" are 1.) Hand Comfort and 2.) having a Firing Panel...

As a 6W to 11W MTL Tootle Puffer...I don't need a lot of Watts...

At the time...(considering what was then available)...I LOVED my Wismec Presa's...

After a year (?) or so I ran across the Smok AL85 => better Hand Comfort and better Firing Panel...

Shortly thereafter I tried a P80...thinner and lighter (even better Hand Comfort) with even smoother (and nicely "clickable") Fire Panel...

[Sill looking for a SALE to get (at least) 2 more...:headbang: ]
