I honestly get so sick and tired of this 'it's only a metal tube and switch' stuff.
People that don't collect things don't understand the culture of collecting. People collect stamps. But they're just pieces of paper with glue on the back, right? But some are priceless, to a collector. Collecting is a hobby, for some, whether it's e-cig mods, stamps, knives, guns, or whatever.

I collect stuff WAY WAY WAY more expensive than any mod.
So I understand the collector mentality.
But to me, its still just a tube. Some tubes are better than others, some work better, but they all more or less work the same to me.

Oh the reason to invest in my truck is simple; its my daily driver =P

But to get to your point, I merely was mentioning that collectors are fickle and have their own tastes. Me, I cant find logic in investing 200$ in a metal tube that maybe 5 people in my area not onl know what it is, but have the cash to waste on it to get a return out of it. My truck on the other hand will yield a better return in the future should I need to sell it.

Your post raises two points, one of which is not on point nor has anything to do with vaporizers but I'll state it anyways lol

1.). You actually make the point of why to get authentic by your own post and didn't even realize it. To each their own. Not everyone who buys authentic is in it to get a return. Buying authentic is also about supporting the designers and people who put the time in to figure out the actual mechanics. Some are rather beautiful and the function is well above any clone no matter how much someone says it is 1:1.

2.) this point assumes you mod your truck. Not sure how you figure you will get a better return on it in the future rather than an authentic mod. I have been into modding/customizing vehicles for 20 years and still am. I learned very early on that you will get no where near what you put into the vehicle upon its sale. You can de-mod it but won't get more than 70% (at best but usually closer to 55-65%) of the individual cost of each mod, and that is of the mod is in great condition (unless you find an unsuspecting buyer who knows nothing about the resale value of used performance car parts...which is rare if you are actually in the "scene."). Further, most people are actually weary of purchasing a modded vehicle for much more than resale of an unmodded vehicle. Reason is two fold: one, modding a vehicle is very individualized. What you like and how you do it does not always mesh with potential buyers' tastes. Second, trade in value of a modded vehicle is lower because resellers are weary of the person who did the customization and how the vehicle was treated during it's modded period. My credentials: 03 Harley Davidson/ford truck supercharged with built engine topped with a 2.3 whipple putting down 570rwhp/630rwtq; 04 mercury marauder with an 03 terminator engine topped with ported eaton putting down 500/530 to the rear wheels; 05 Lincoln aviator with competition winning custom sound system; 2010 BMW M5 V10 supercharged that does low 10s in the quarter mile and will break the tires loose at 90 mph...many a lambo and Ferrari owners have shocked looks on their faces when a 4 door sedan is keeping up with them at 180mph.

Just my 2 cents.

600+ rear wheel horpower (measured on a dyno) or flywheel horsepower (advertised ratings)? I love the SLSs!

Numbers I gave were rearwheel horsepower...to translate to flywheel (i.e., at the crank), the harley truck had about 700hp, the marauder had a tad over 600hp. Haven't dynoed the M5, but I'm close to 600rwhp based on numbers from other M5s with similar builds. I just love my M5...by far the most fun car I've owned and the total package in terms of power and handling.

Also, the vehicles above are/were my personal vehicles...each built as a reliable daily driver :) I've hand my hand in building a number of 750+rwhp cars and a 1100rwhp shelby cobra GT500. Can't remember the last time I almost cr@pped my pants...and this was from the sheer power of a car!!!

But you get a quality piece. A work of art. A creation that the artist invested himself in.

Didn't realize he invented metal tubes O_O Honestly it's a metal tube with some nice etching. If it's a "work of art," don't use it. Just display it on a shelf. Wouldn't want to risk scratching it :p

So when Leonardo painted the Mona Lisa people assumed he invented the canvas he painted on? My friend, metal tubes are like the canvas. Marquis, like every other modder just innovated and molded it in a different way. As for display...

There's no way to inform a lot of people of how much time and money it takes for small businesses, or just one person with some friends, to produce quality mechanical mods..

I'm 6th generation in a family business(Dad started his own thing though)...it's tough out there in the real world. Our business is similar to the clone versus authentic argument.. We're expensive, but you get what you pay for....

I understand a lot of authentic mod makers aren't pristine with all their work, some cases none of it...but many are..

I want to hold the tesla gus clone...cuz I am so impressed with my Gus setup..and the 4nine was my first authentic mod, and I feel differences with the clones.. they can perform the same, sure...but I swear, the metal tube just feels better...I don't know placebo? I mean... you've seen me around..I'm kinda nuts.:)

Infinite seemed promising when they first popped up, but they screwed up a few things pretty bad.. maybe they're going to get more into their own products, or similar approaches to cloning, like the clt..I can accept that..cuz that's not patent infringing.. lol I'm stuck lately trying to figure out how to possibly go around our patent.. it sucks..really..to be one that's part of an original idea- revolutionary, and trying to think of ways around that...but I guess we'll never get Chinese business.

But... maybe I should hold one, before I argue its case...if someone is close by(N. AL US), or has faith, it will be returned. Documented right cha'ir... is that against the rules?

It's not just about the tube. There is the etching, yes, there is threading, there are the contacts (and how well put together they are), and finally there is the switch. The switch on this mod is like nothing else, it truly is a thing of beauty.

If mechs are just metal tubes to you then buy your clones and be on your way. I have quite a few clones myself, I don't think anyone here will hold anything against you. But why come here and criticize those who see more than just a metal tube? I just don't understand.

I showed my Skeleton Key to a non-vaper last night. She has friends with clones but never seen an authentic. She just held her breath and said,"I get it..." I didn't have to tell her it was authentic at all. If a non-vaper can see a difference then I think the maker of the mod would be proud. If it doesn't matter to you, no harm no foul.

I don't understand why you have them in a display case as such... Do you not buy mods to use them?

With that said, want to sell one? I see a couple in the picture that look like they will not be used while you use one of the group...

Joking. As nice as they look, I'm on a strictly copper diet when it comes to my mods. ;)

Each one if these accommodate a different type of atomizer. One for a Kayfun, one for a tobh and one for the sat22.

I don't see them accomodating any of said atomizers in the picture... :p

Hey, if that's how you roll, more power to ya.

Personally, I almost bought a second of my favorite mod when my local B&M got more of a limited edition in, though I did not make it in time to get it. I have one though, so I feel special enough. I cant even begin to fathom how special you feels having three SK's :p ;)
