First couple of weeks I got hardly any sleep. I learned to stop vaping 2 hours before bed time.
Even now if say I pluck a device from a display and "oh yeah that was a good one" and vape, vape, vape it after 8pm I'm up half the night.

Nicotine in cigarettes is like an Elvis cocktail… ie a mixutures uppers, downer

If I wake up during the middle of the night to do some business, sometimes taking a puff or two makes it harder to go back to sleep. My mind starts waking up. I don't have any trouble falling asleep initially however, even if I vape 5-10 minutes beforehand.
Thats my issue. I fall asleep no problem but when I wake up, usually 3 hours or so after, I can never get back to sleep. I had the mindset that my body was running low on nic and would vape then lay back down. Maybe the vape part is the problem. Bummer......

I have never had an issue falling asleep but would wake several times during the night. A friend told me that she had the same issue and her Doctor told her to take one Benadryl an hour before bed and it worked. I checked with my Doctor, as anyone should, it works for me too. My Doctor told me that, as Nicotine is a stimulant it can cause sleep issues and that many people sleep less deeply as a result of use. I don't know if this is true, it sounds plausible enough.

As always people, I am not a Doctor, you should always check with yours first before taking anything be it OTC or not.

I’ve had insomnia for decades. Whether I’d been smoking, had quit, or have been vaping does not seem to matter. What does seem to affect me is screens. I turn stuff off and put the phone down a couple hours before bedtime.
That is a problem of mine. If I cant sleep, I grap my phone or whatever and go online. Should probably pull the internet before bed!

I got chickenpox as an adult. I used Benedryl then and slept for like 3 days straight haha. Sounds like an option, or quit vaping......no.....not happening.

I grab a book, knit, or do Sudoku ( magazine, not on the tablet lol). Even listening to a podcast, music or an audio book is better than screen time.

I do the same thing except I use Nyquil gel caps. It helps me stay asleep and keeps my nose and sinuses clear.

safe distance from a black hole
A lot of things happened when I quit tobacco.
Weird sleep was one. Dreams/nightmares. Waking up in the small hours in a state of anxiety or a disturbing calm. Over sleeping. Under sleeping.
Food habits changed. Couldnt drink as much coffee as I used to. Couldnt use as much sugar as I used to. Food affected me noticeably and almost immediately.
Most of it I put down to my liver healing and processing sugars, caffeine etc so much more efficiently and so much more quickly, metabolizing serotonin more efficiently etc. A constant and steady stream of serotonin I had never experienced.
Medications I had been taking for low platelets etc had to be stopped because I was reacting negatively to them where for 5yrs prior they didnt seem to help or hinder and came with no ill feeling or side affect.
Added to that my blood was circulating more efficiently and oxygen was getting to places that had been starved for decades. My body felt like it was physically buzzing or micro vibrating at times.
I will honest, I was a mess for a while. It all sounds like good stuff but for 6 to 9 months my system was freaking out. It took a year plus to settle down.
Although I was sick and getting sicker before quitting tobacco it was just an everyday and unnoticeable slide into death, all the changes that took place after quitting were abrupt and obvious, I was often more worried by the symptoms of getting better than I was about the symptoms of slowly decaying.

So its something else in the juice that causes people to not sleep good? You would think that one would react from the nic, whether it be from cigs or vape, the same way in terms of sleep . Is it the other chemicals in cigs that make one more sleepy and because they are not in a vape, vaping keeps you up? I guess it can be a number of things, but for myself, I didnt see any difference in sleep patterns when I switched

I chain vape right up till I'm crawling into bed and have no trouble sleeping but everyone is different.

You could try cutting back on the nic before bed, or have a glass of warm milk or try some yoga breathing exercises, etc. I did the bendryl thing for years but gave it up a few years ago as the long term use of it was causing me other issues. I actually sleep better now without it.

I'd expect that if it were a result of quitting it would have settled down by now. Nicotine is a stimulant, of course, but it was also a stimulant when you were getting it from cigarettes. Has your pattern of smoking/vaping changed since you switched? If you're vaping more in the late evening than you used to smoke, that might be a factor. If that's it, I like Anna's suggestion of having a lower nic setup for the evening - as long as you don't compensate for the lower nic by vaping even more.

Having some sleep issues of my own, I can safely say that sleep issues are downright weird and can be affected by the strangest things. There are even scenarios where stimulants can make you seem to sleep better and depressants can make your sleep worse (sleep apnea, for one). I also wouldn't be surprised to find out that the some of the psychoactive chemicals in cigarettes affect sleep. I think some of them function as anti-depressants, and depression can really screw with sleep (although I wouldn't worry about that much if you don't have other symptoms of depression).

Whatever's going on, I hope you can sort it out before long. Good luck!
