Never been worried about what it looks like and the only comments I have received from cops were of the genuine curiosity ilk. However, in Ontario the fine for using handheld devices while driving is currently $300 with talk of that being increased to $1000. A local radio DJ was stopped and ticketed for taking a bite of his bagel so I don't doubt that there are over zealous oinkers who would love to "make an example" of someone vaping and driving.

We have a local PD officer that is also a welder and we do business with him on a regular basis, he is a K-9 officer and he and his buddies use our shop to train their dogs at times. Lots of hiding places and odd smells from the work we do to try and confuse the dogs, after I quit smoking I was vaping around the shop one day while they were training and not one of them batted an eye. They even congratulated me on quitting smoking and went on with their training. Since then I don't worry about it at all if I am vaping and a police officer pulls up next to me I carry on, there's nothing more suspicious than acting that way.

Just in the off case though I do get pulled over by an unknowing officer I always carry a bottle of my juice with a vendor label on it and business cards for said liquid in my vape kit.

Nothing to add to your post, just wanted to say I dig your username and location.

TMBG - one of my all-time favorite bands.

Mine too. I have used this user name for years, on multiple forums for many different subjects, and you are the first person who has actually got the reference. (Or at least the first to comment on it.) :toast:

Sorry if I used any slang terms that were forbidden, mods. My bad!

I live in a town where there seem to be a lot of vape people. We have vape shops all over the place. So, I guess I don't worry much about vaping in my car. I often see lots of other drivers vaping. Sometimes at a stop light, I'll see someone vape, they'll see me vape and we'll nod at each other. The fact is you're not doing anythging illegal, so just vape on and don't worry about what anyone thinks.

Whenever I see an LEO, I intentionally imitate Mt. Vesuvius. If they ever ask, I'll educate. Oh, BTW, I'm retired and have da time to hold 'classes'.

I'd rather get pulled over while vaping than commit road rage while coping with 'bakky withdrawal! <Been dere, done dat and won't ever again!>

Vaping and day-um proud of it!!! Besides, soccer sux...

I live in an area that is mostly smoking, with very little vaping. However in my own town I will vape in the car while driving.
On vacation if driving I will use cigalikes though, it's not worth it to me to get pulled over in small town America, several
hundred miles from home, by a guy out to prove himself. If hubby is driving on vacation I use egos, recent trip through
Mississippi we were pulled over for having tinted windows - illegal in MS, but not in the state the car is registered in (MO).
While he was behind us with his lights on and hubby was pulling off the road, I hid my vape gear in the console. Not doing
anything illegal, no. But I'm not about to take a chance of being given a hard time by some new guy out to prove himself.
I also keep vendor cards in my wallet. I can whip them out if necessary.

IMHO, better to hang it out there than try to hide it and look even more shady in the process. If the LEO wants to waste both of our time on the side of the road, go for it. I have nothing to hide.
Just remember your rights, answer questions directly and NEVER voluntarily hand your personal property (i.e. Your equipment) to a LEO.
Unless vaping is illegal where you live or you have some other reason to be concerned if pulled over, then vape freely and make that commute a little more enjoyable.

Allow them to give you a hard time. But don't forget their badge #, shift and supervisor's name. If you have some time to spare, request the supervisor's presence.
If you have a phone with a voice recorder, usually best to start recording from the time you get pulled over until the traffic stop has been competed and you are on your way. Video is better, but not many folks have it in them to hold a phone in a LEO's face while being harassed. If asked, the interaction is being recorded for your safety, exactly as the LEO has a dash-mounted camera and voice recorders on their person and/or in their cruiser.
It's sad to see how many folks are scared to be harassed by the police. They are public servants paid for by we, the people to enforce the laws- Not fabricate their own. Stand up for your rights.
Of course, all of this is contingent on your innocence. Best not to try anything funny if you have something to hide. Then you end up on "cops" lol.

This may sound silly to you all, but I'm a bit paranoid about driving and vaping... In my head, I picture the soccer mom in the minivan next to me seeing me vape and exhaling a huge cloud and thinking I'm vaping/smoking {OTHER STUFF} or something and calling the po-po. (Which I don't do at all) Or God forbid a cop seeing me do it and thinking the same.

Is this a concern, or was it a concern, to any of you when you were newbies to vaping?

Orrrr am I just being silly? Sorry but I'm honestly a bit paranoid and wondering if any of you have helpful advice.

Thanks!!

Come to Oregon. Vape what you like.

I actually make it a point to vape when a cop pulls up next to or behind me. I make sure they can see my gear - either the MVP2 or the Aspire CF VV 1600. I have no problems turning a stop into a lesson. I've been friends with too many cops to be afraid of them. And I always keep a spare battery, tank, and a bottle of juice in my vape kit for show and tell. Hadn't thought about keeping business cards. That's a good idea.

You really shouldn't have much to worry about. I've been stopped twice by "law enforcement"since I started Vaping. The first time I was going through airport security and the TSA agent pulled my bad aside and called for another agent to man the x-ray. He came over to me and wanted to talk about my gear and what I was Vaping. The other time, I was walking down the street in Bethesda, MD when a cop stopped me on the street. He pulled out his Hana Mod and fogger and wanted to talk juice.

Just recently I was going the security at Sydney airport when my vape case was flagged. They took a look at my hemostats and let me roll on. I've got one "what the ... are you doing" look from an old lady in the car next to me and it just made me laugh. Vape on and enjoy yourself!

You know, I understand how you're feeling about vaping in the car. In my case, I'm just too old to care. LOL I used to drive commercially for a living, and over the years got pulled over for all sorts of assorted BS. Shucks, even after I stopped driving commercially I've been pulled over for some strange excuses. (One night I think the cop was just bored) Anyway, I vape on. If they want to pull me over, it's fine with me. It will probably provide some fine entertainment for me.

In general don't worry about the cops. For whatever reason a large percentage of cops smoke. And as a result a lot of cops now vape. A lot of guys at my department and surrounding agencies vape. Most a basic ego or Blu users but several are enthusiasts. Everything from lightsabers to mechs and high end variables. For the soccer mom, I could not care less. It's really none of their business, you aren't doing anything wrong so don't sweat it.

I'm in the military, and I have a house on base. One day after getting my haircut, i took a nice drag from my Sigelei 100W about 10 foot from the front gate. Once I got to the front gate, the PMO officer started HOUNDING me with questions. Where did I come from, what did I do today, Where am I going, then finally after all those questions he asks me what was the big cloud of smoke that came from my window, I showed him, and before I could even start really telling him about it, he told me to pull over and my car was going to be a "random" search. 30 minutes later, The only thing that had been done was one of the other officers and I started talking about vaping, and I gave him my number, so I could take him to the local vape shop, and get him "started" vaping, because he wants to quit smoking. Even though it wasted my time, that 30 minutes, could possibly get 1, maybe a few more people to quit smoking..... I would say.... Success?

Also, I would not be worried, as long as you don't have anything to hide! :D Cause it could actually be beneficial to someone.

I thought about this thread today. I was driving to my local vape shop to get coils and juice. A cop was behind me from the time I turned at the light to head down the main road where the shop is. I didn't think anything of it, was vaping on my MVP at the light and going down the road. When I pulled into the turn lane to turn into the shop, he got in behind me. I started thinking "hmm…is this what people are worried about? Am I about to get pulled over for vaping in the car?"

I turned into the shop parking lot. He turned in behind me. No lights, but it's fairly common here for them to just follow you into a parking lot without lights (happened to me a few years ago because I was driving around with a dead tag and didn't realize it) I thought "Crap, he is going to hassle me about vaping in the car!" Nope. He was just there to get juice and coils.

Just because we're paranoid doesn't mean they're out to get us! LOL
