and why can't I use a regular wall charger?

I believe the two slim line charger's are the same internally, they are just different profile's. The slim line is designed to not overcharge the newer batteries making them safer and last longer through more cycles. It help's if you don't completely discharge them. If you have time go over to V4L forum, under new user's check out the information. Lot's of help and technical info.

That technical info is also posted here on this subforum (by Morandir, of course), and possibly in one of Morandir's ECF blog posts. :)

well I had my Titan on the slim line charger fot 2hrs 20min and it wasn't charged all the way yet. I did run the batt all the way down. just seems like a long time. my King Diamons on a .5v charger take 1hr 20min to charge!
Slim LIne charger, output:4.2v=120mA
my other charger , output:5.0v=500mA. both batts are XLs
did I get the wrong Slim Line?

when you're reading the specs, are you reading the USB part that attaches to the batt, or the plug part that goes into the wall?

The plugs are usually always 500mAh out, the usb components are usually 150mAh for Gen2s.

The slim charger is one piece, as you know, and its 120mAh out.

In my understanding the wall plug is less important than the usb component. The usb will only accept a certain amount of charge from the wall component, so its usually lower, wall plug is higher, and all is well.

If you're USB component is 500mAh out, I have no idea where you may have got it from or what its for. Its simply putting out current way to fast for a batt that's only 300ish mAh.

My Echo charger is only 300mAh out for an 1100mAh batt, as an example. And most echo chargers are actually 150 mAh out for a 650-1300 mAh batt. See what I'm saying?

Morandir has posted thoroughly on this subject so I don't want to muddy the waters. In sum, Gen 2 (halo, SI, bloog, etc) chargers tend to overcharge and wreck V4L batts, but Gen 1/V4L slim chargers seem to be fine on gen 2 batts.

I don't think it is, in principle, BUT as I said, Morandir has gathered some data that indicate using Gen 2 chargers on a V4L/Gen 1 will tend to seriously overcharge the batt and eventually lead to frying the battery, shortened life span, etc. Maybe even an explosion? lol

Don't do it its not worth it :)

I don't think its even the amperage that's the issue here, its something about the charger logic being pretty dumb and just feeding the batt more and more when it should stop. Somehow it knows to stop with gen 2s. Though even this is a whole other can of worms...

You seem to have two slim chargers, which are the vaping worlds MacGyver Swiss Army knife of charging for 808s, you don't need anything else really :)

Ya know....I hate to be the grouch around here, but I have put a lot of money into my vaping supplies.
I have many, many regular old-style wall chargers, and they have been working just fine. I have
several diamond XL batteries, but none of the new Titan ones. Do I need to use the slim charger
on the diamonds that first came out? I am not in to new products that make me change all my hardware as well as my carts.

My 2010 Ford F150 is a lot safer and gets 2 mpg better mileage than my 2002 Ford F150. I still drive (and love) the 2002, I let my wife drive the 2010 (which she loves). To the point, there is nothing wrong with the old hardware and chargers on the older batts, the newer batts charge more efficiently and are safer using the newer chargers due to design improvements in both the batts and charger logic. Fortunately, the newer chargers work great with the older batts, so it's really not so bad Sally - just gets portrayed as being a lot more complicated than necessary.

YES ,the answer is yes .Morandir has determined via testing that if you want to extend the battery life use the slim charger for the diamonds ,and stealths and i believe the titans .

ALB sir do not use the 5v/500ma charger on the titans and king diamonds. Having said that Cyrus Vap sir has you covered. The slim lines can be used with any kr808 batt. They are the best to use with the newer batts. Yes you can use the old chargers on them as Ms. Sallyem said, but they will not last as long as they have a higher potential to overcharge, and will overcharge the new manuals (king diamond and stealths, vt or non-vt). The old chargers are rated for 4.2v though, so are still a completely different situation than a 5v gen 2 charger.
