This test has been on going for quite some time now. When the slim line chargers were released took 4 never used batteries, all shorty autos, 2 stealth and 2 king diamond batts (these are the non-vt unsealed variety) to see how many charge cycles could be gotten out of them with avoiding deep cycling and only using the slim line charger. The stealths are still in testing mode, batt 1 being at charge number 388, and batt 2 at charge number 376. When complete their numbers will go up as well. Thse have been used only with wow cartos.

Starting voltages for the King Diamonds-

Shorty #1- 4.2 at start (as), 4.18 (9min in), 4.16 (18min), 4.14 (27min), 4.13 (36min), 4.11 (45min), 4.07 (54min), 4.06 (63min), 4.05 (72min), 4.04 (81min), 4.03 (90min), 4.01 (99min), 3.95 (108min), 3.83 (117min), 3.72 (126min), stopped.

Shorty #2- 4.2 (as), 4.2 (9min in), 4.17 (18min), 4.15 (27min), 4.14 (36min), 4.13 (45min), 4.11 (54min), 4.09 (63min), 4.06 (72min), 4.03 (81min), 4.02 (90min), 4.01 (99min), 3.97 (108min), 3.83 (117min), 3.73 (126min), Stopped.

Shorty #1 through 394 cycles was still performing as it should, no drop off in time or voltage holding. The 395th use though, started seeing some slipping. At charge number 406 only got around 75% of the previous lifespan from the batt. Here was it's final voltage numbers:

4.2 (as), 4.18 (9min in), 4.15 (18min), 4.13 (27min), 4.10 (36min), 4.02 (45min), 3.97 (54min), 3.93 (63min), 3.89 (72min), 3.79 (81min), stopped.

Shorty #2 through 437 cycles was performing as it should. Charge 438 was were drop off was noticed, and by charge 444 was again at the 75% drop off. Here are it's final voltage numbers:

4.2 (as), 4.17 (9min in), 4.13 (18min), 4.11 (27min), 4.08 (36min), 4.01 (45min), 3.95 (54min), 3.88 (63min), 3.85 (72min), 3.76 (81min), stopped there.

On the previous test using a combination of the slim line, wall, and usb chargers got 318 charges out of a king diamond batt without deep cycling. Quite a difference in comparison to using only the slim line.

Should have the stealth info up soon, maybe another week or so. One other update, been using 2 vt king diamond manual xl's exclusively with the 1.5ohm range tanks since their release, testing to see if using that much amperage will affect their charge cycles. They're being used under the same conditions, no deep cycling and only on the slim line charger. After 103 charges on batt 1, and 94 on batt 2 no changes to report. Those results will be up soon as well. Hope this helps someone.

I don't know what deep cycling is

I bet I am doing it tho lol

Probably. ;) "Deep cycling" is when you vape the battery until it drains completely, and the LED (or ash cap) blinks at you repeatedly, begging for a new charge ("Feed me! Feed me!).

Morandir posted some data somewhere (sorry, can't find it right now) on the difference this makes in the battery's life cycle (= total number of charges before death), and the difference is pretty staggering.

My problem is that I just can't/don't pay sufficient attention to a battery's performance (always distracted by something else), so I often miss those tell-tale signs that the battery charge is getting low. :(

What Lady Eleanor said. :)

Ms. Loveridden if you constantly deep cycle the batt you can get as little as 190 uses out of it, seen as many as 239. Without deep cycling a batt will usually last 300 or so charges using a mix of the chargers V4L sells. In other words you can get almost twice as many charges out of a battery by using a slim line charger only, and avoiding deep cycling. :)

Is it normal for an XL KD or Titan to take 4 hours to charge? I'm sure this question has already been answered somewhere else on this site, but I'm too lazy to go look for it right now! Thanks!

Mine seem to take around 4 hours on slim chargers, seems a long time, but I've mainly used shorties up til now
