I'm looking for a small tube mod to replace my egos and rivas for going out and about. I was interested in an e-power like device just for the price but after coming across so many people having reliability issues I just don't know anymore. I would prefer it to be able to use 14500 batteries as I already have a bit of a collection of those. I would prefer it to be all mechanical but as long as its durable and reliable thats not a deal breaker. I'm currently leaning towards the Icon from puresmoker but would like to hear others input before I make up my mind.

Yes that alpha does look intriguing. My only concern was, from my understanding it does not have a lock out and I was worried about it firing in my pocket. Also anyone having any suggestions cheaper than either the Icon or Alpha ? I was hoping for more around the 50 dollar range but of course I would rather pay a higher price once than have repeatedly replace an unreliable cheaper product.

I just ordered the 14650 E-Power from Crystal Clear Vaping...55bux, with the ecf54off code...besides the stuff that comes in the kit, CCV throws in a 5pk of Resurrectors, 30ml/your choice juice and free shipping...a darn good deal...my reading was most of the problems were with the 18650 model and the ones from CCV all have the new switch.......

I'm still kinda leaning toward the Icon. However I'm liking the roughstack too. The only thing keeping me from the roughstack is having to keep another battery size around as I already use 14500's fro other things. I'm still really wanting to like the e-power as all I need to get started is this GotVapes E-POWER - Spare Kit for 14500 Battery - BLACK RUBBERIZ [GV-epower-black-spare14500] - $23.45 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more however is threads like this that make me unsure http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/general-e-smoking-discussion/229341-e-power-users-i-have-question.html

...most all the switch problems I read about are with the 18650 models...the one I ordered from CCV has the new switch...the pic of the one you linked to shows the old switch but, like I said, seems most of the problems were with the larger 18series...for the GotVape price, it may be worth the chance since you have the batts and such already.........

Adaptever.net I used the Adaptever pretty exclusively for 1-1/2 years. All mechanical. Never had a problem with it. I eventually got one for my husband and son. My sister uses one too. They are tanks. My sister accidentally left hers in the bra part of her bathing suit and went into the Gulf of Mexico. We dried it off replaced the carto and it worked just as well as before. $59 or $69 for the unit, depending on the finish you want. It uses 16340 3.7v batts, 510 connection. And Thad, the manufacturer, is an awesome modder and vendor. Adaptever.net

well I decided to go with the e-power spare kit I linked earlier. The price was just too low compared to my other options. Ordered today so I'll see how it goes. If this doesn't do it for me I'll probably go with the Icon. If I'm gonna pay out higher money for a higher quality mod then I really want all mechanical which kinda makes it between the Icon and the Alpha. The Alpha lacks the ability to lock it out and thus the Icon would be my choice but heck $25 for that 14500 e-power was just too good.

I think you'll like the little e-power. I use it when I don't want the bulk of a Buzz-pro in my pocket. And the cone protects the cartos from breaking when they are carried in your pocket.

They don't have an on off switch, but if you unscrew the carto a turn before you put it in your pocket it won't fire.

I believe the new ones have a similar switch to the ego which has never fired in my pocket, although it does come with a button protector if that becomes an issue.

I've had egos fire in my pocket too many times. That 5 click deal (ego t) is a PITA, so I never did it and they will fire.. It is just so simple and quick to back off the carto or atty a turn and eliminate the possibility. To each his own. Do what you want, I do.

Oh yes I absolutely believe it can happen. Its just hasn't happened to me, at least not with an ego. However unscrewing the atty a bit seems like a great tip. Its so simple yet it just never occured to me. I guess with it unscrewed the button could still get pressed and drain your battery but at least it won't turn your atty into a branding iron in your pocket.
