Smileomizer Tight Draw/Pull FIX!

Hi everyone:

- Been away from this V4L forum for a few years, vaping mods and dripping, and Vivi-Novae and Kanger Pro-tanks and other devices. BUT, I tried the Smileomizers on my 5-Volt GLV-2 from Great Lakes Vapor and I am hooked! Best flavor/vapor combination of all my thousands of dollars of vaping gear..
- So I have been on these things (Smileomizers - I use the large ones) for a month or so and a few have begun to get hard to pull on. Tight draw after only 1 fill or 1 refill (these things don't keep their flavor after more than a few refills btw, like the cool carts and Boge and all other cartos, but they rock for a day or possibly 2. So for me they are worth the $6 average cost with discount codes in e-mail).

- Here's the fix: take a paperclip (standard small paperclip), unfold it, and insert (he said insert!) it into the battery side of the Smileomizer. Wiggle it in and rotate it around (he said... well you know!) slightly spread the center tube. Voila! Works every time. The paper clip will be a bit crooked and this helps to push the wall. Move the paperclip up and down while rotating it. I am somewhat careful to not puncture the tube or damage the coil, but this has not happened so far. Just ease it in to begin. I have increased the airflow on maybe a half dozen this way and am thinking about doing it on all of them initially as a prep step when filling.

What up jaybo! I'm glad you're liking the Smileos and thanks for the tips!

Also, if you have time, I'd try cleaning them out with vodka. Let them soak and get the gunk out. Rinse them out of course but when you refill them, let us know if the flavor is back to it's peak. Worth a shot.

Another "tip!"

Shove any standard size drip tip into the rubber cap and it STAYS put and vapes PERFECTLY, been using this one for a month!

- Also, the new curved tips work on cartos too!

Jaybo sir the paper clip works as long as clog in the coil/wick hasn't hardened. If it has the trick will break the smileo by either removing the wick from the base or breaking the coil. An alcohol soak before hand will usually loosen up the clog....

- Thanks, but the draw isn't a clog per se. What I think is happening is the fluid soaks into the carto and the fiber pushes on the inner tube, restricting air flow. The paperclip stretches the tube, and pushes the juice-soaked material back, allowing improved air flow.

Jaybo sir have to disagree. Having been sent a number of malfunctioning smileos from others, along with my own smileos tested, it's a clogging issues. By you using the paperclip at the first sign of a harder draw you're breaking it up before it becomes a full on blockage. Some haven't, and thus a later clog forms to a point where it completely blocks off the airflow and can't just be removed via a paperclip....

- How long are folks using these? I pitch them after 2 days heavy vaping maximum. Then the flavor deteriorates, not the air flow. Therefore the paperclip is all I need.

Most of us reuse them, after cleaning them first. I have some that have been in use for two months.

I know they are pricey, but the coil breaks down, as does the wicking material. Open one that has had a lot of use and you'll see charred filler material. Not sure it is safe to use for too long, so I'd look into that and keep it in mind.

Can I just run water through them? Maybe put them uncapped in the dishwasher?

Thank you do much for these tips. I will definitely try the paperclip fix next time. Clogging doesn't happen very often to me, but i'll definitely give it a try. One question though, Do you insert the paper clip all the way through so that it comes up through the straw? or do you insert it half way? Thanks again!

You can just run water through them and dry them Jaybo sir, don't suggest running them in the dishwasher though. The only problem with the water technique is if the coil is good and clogged it won't be enough. Considering how lightly you use them though that probably won't be an issue for you.

Experiment! I start with a shallow routing, then progress until I can get decent draw. I run them through maybe half the time.

Just ordered 10 more and this will be my last order. I love caramel Mocha frappe and they clog after one use and don't seem to unclog easy with the paperclip. I am using the Tanks and I get a few days out of a cart at almost a quarter of the price. They are too expensive to through away after 2 fills for me. Just sayin.

Yep, M is absolutely right. I notice that it depends on the kind of juice that you're using. I've been using the paper clip trick almost from the get-go on my Smileo's so I can usually make them last at least a week or two with heavy, non-stop vaping. The thicker juices like Cigar will clog them up faster though and I've ruined many a SmileyCart by doing exactly what M described.
