Smok Alien Firmware Question

My friend has an alien and so do I. Whenever my mod acts up with me I go to download in the settings and seems like it does a hard reset. So when my friend's alien wasn't acting right, I suggested to go into download and do a hard reset. The issue is that now my friends Alien has no display like it just vanished. Everything else works so I think I need to do a software update.

My question is has anyone successfully updated the Alien using a wire that did not come with the device itself?

OMG that was exactly the issue. My friend must've accidentally put their device in that setting without realizing. I am so lucky I asked the pros here. I was all nervous about the firmware update not working and it would have been my fault. But ones with experience know what to look for first. As soon as you gave me that suggestion I'm like right that has to be it. I called up my friend and said what to press and sure enough it was in stealth mode. What a scare.

The menu still comes up on 3 clicks, so you can easily change it back.
