And to clarify what these numbers mean, if your coil is 0.3 ohms exactly and made of ss316l, a raise of resistance to 0.30092 ohms (0.3+0.00092 you set) translates to 1 degree celcius raise of temp.
This is how your mod knows the coil's temp,by monitoring the change of resistance.
All wires when heated have higher resistance.
Each type of wire has it's own tcr.

That's actually not true. There is a math equation for this in the link below and a detailed explanation.
TC beyond Ni200: Nickel Purity, Dicodes; Ti, SS, Resistherm NiFe30; Coefficient of Resistance

Also 0.3ohm on a standard dual coil 28 gauge is not the best setup. IMO
I run dual 316l standard coil at 0.45-.5ohm and have found that to be the best for me. 8-9 wraps on a 3mm ID will result between. 45-.5ohm. Set at 450-480F using 0.00092 TCR and firing between 45-50watts.
Reason being is that 0.3ohm depending on your ID, will only be around 4-6 wraps. That to me is not enough surface area especially for a thin wire like 28 gauge.
All this is subjective obviously.

What do you mean not true?
If the tcr we set isn't the resistance change per 1 degree celcius what is it?

Not true as it is not simply coil resistance plus 0.00092TCR
TCR is somewhat a multiplier. Meaning that the change in resistance varies based on initial coil resistance.

If you're coil was 1.00ohm, each degree raised in temperature would result in 0.00092ohm change in final resistance.
In your case if 0.3ohm initial coil, each degree raised in temperature would result in a 0.000276ohm change in final resistance.

There is another thread around on ECF as well as Evolv stating that for best temp control in 316l, the coil should be at least 0.5ohm.

Example being that if you have a 0.3ohm coil, a change in 0.005ohm would result in 18 degrees. If you're coil was 0.5ohm, a change in the same 0.005ohm would result in 11 degrees. So the higher the resistance, the greater the temperature accuracy.

When SS was first introduced in temp control a lot of ppl were complaining that they were getting terrible results. Thus was because they were building coils at 0.1-0.2ohm. At 0.1ohm coil resistance, a change of 0.005ohm would result in 54degeees. This is why they were getting pulsing feeling during their vape.

"Temperature protected" is not an error message. I'ts simply stating the mod is doing what you asked it to, limited the temperature no higher than the 500F you entered in your case.

While a somewhat higher resistance may be better for accuracy, it doesn't eliminate lower ohm builds. I'm using a 0.3 ohm coil on my Alien right now and it's OK. I also have several dual Clapton builds that come in at ~0.25 ohm on my DNA mods and they work just fine. In truth, resistance doesn't matter for temp control, although accuracy might be improved with a bit higher resistance with a low TCR wire for some mods.

Received my Gold Alien kit from the Breazy Black Friday sale. Was starting to think they would never send it, but they came through. My first exposure to the Baby Beast as my first Blue Alien came with batteries & no tank from Ecig.com.

The Baby Beast does indeed throw clouds and flavor. Now I understand why everyone loves these kits.

Is anyone having resistance issues withe their Alien?

It was vaping great then all of the sudden nothing. I looked at the screen and it says Ohms Too Low. I thought maybe something happened to the coil in my Moonshot. Pulled it off and put on my Avocado and the same message. Put the Moonshot on my RX200S and it works fine. I tried multiple tanks and none of them will work on the Alien. All of them work fine on 4 different devices. Tried new batteries, tried reloading firmware, tried changing modes and nothing helped. I finally got it to read a tank that has a 1.5 ohm coil but the Alien is seeing it at .199 ohms.

I have not. Is the pin moving freely in your 510?

It appears to be ok. It depresses with a little springyness and comes back up fine. I cleaned out the 510 with a qtip and there didnt seem to be any juice in it. I dont smell any burnt electronics from the vent holes either. I cant find any reason why it isnt working. Smok customer service is non-exsitant.

What happens if you press the firing button with no atomizer or tank? does it still show atomizer short?

If so it sounds like the 510 might be shorted internally. You might have to open her up and check the wiring.

It says "Ohms Too Low". I dont remember if it used to say "No Atomizer" like all of other mods I have. This is my only Smok device. I had an Osub Plus thta I sold but I dont remember if it said "Ohms Too Low" or "No Atomizer".

I just wish that Smok would answer my emails or respond to their facebook posts.

Mine displays no coil when fired and nothing attached.
If you attempt to take it apart I would recommend watching djlsb video on YouTube where he takes it completely apart and shows you the board etc...

I will give Smok another week before I void the warranty. Hopefully I can get a response from them. I am baffled by the lack of customer service by these Chinese companies. I work in the Car Audio Industry and this kind of service just doesn't fly.

If you don't mind me asking where did you buy it from? And about how long ago.

I'm having the same issue with my Smok Alien. It's late, so I will write more tomorrow. As a quick work around (at least it works for me), pull the base out of a tank and put it back in, let the mod ask of new coil and respond yes - see if it reads it correctly.

Anyhow, will check back in tomorrow. Now, need to catch some sleep.

I have noticed that if you swap tanks when the screen is off, it will read your new atomizer as the same resistance as the one you just took off, even if they have a 2 ohm difference. I always make sure my screen is on when I swap atty's. That way it asks if it's a new coil and reads the resistance correctly.

I'm a man, and I can change, if I have to, I guess.
