not touching those holes or the cap that screws on over them
Nope, not touching either.
I did order some alien clapton pre-mades by mistake (was wanting fused claptons) and there was no way they would fit rta without touching the cap so haven't been able to use them. Shame really as I hear they make for a good flavoured vape, which is always my goal.

Here's a few questions: what resistance are your coil builds, and what is the general wattage you vape at? Do you take short hits, or longer draws?

I haven't started coil building yet so been relying on prebuilt coils - have just purchased all the bits & supplies I'll need from GearBest so within the week will be building my own. I've bought a couple of those 8-1 coil wheels with a mix of different prebuilt coil types and a building kit that comes with an ohmmeter etc - so have just been using the coils that the RTA came with which read .433 on my Smok Alien. Not ideal to not be able to test ohms of coils beforehand but takes a while to build up all the kit. Was initially putting $$ into getting the right mod which took a while as when you're a newbie all the info advises on the simpler mods - started with Kanger Topbox Mini, then Vaporesso Target Mini (which I love as my 'portable' vape & for a mini has a good hit), then iStick Pico (blah), then my Holy Grail so far: Smok Alien. I wish I'd just gone for the better mod from the start. Having said that the simple RTA on the Kanger was a good one to start the building side of things on.
Sorry, I digress, I vape at different settings depending on the coil I'm using so for exmple at the moment I have the Alien quad coil that came with the mod which I'm vaping at 66 watts (it says between 50-110 best 60-80). But each coil seems to have it's own 'sweet spot' for my tastes. Generally never need to go over 80wts.
Probably classed as short hits (1.35secs if this is short) as I'm still mostly MTL vaping, not bothered about big clouds and like a good throat hit.

I asked those specific questions because I was curious to see if maybe the coils weren't getting hot enough, so maybe the wicks were putting too much juice through and not enough was getting vaped, hence, a leaking issue. But I have to say, I'm stumped.

Makes sense, if the juice isn't vaping it's gotta come out someway. Yep, I'm stumped too...and bit sick of watching build videos too.

I haven't built on the baby beast, I use the pre-made coils for mine. But I have two cloud beasts, and I build on both, and have had next to no issues. To me, the baby beast is a bit too small to build on, but then again, I have big hands. If you/we can't troubleshoot the problem, maybe look for an upgrade to the cloud beast. The deck is big enough where you can build quite a bit of different coils on it. What mod did you say you had the baby beast on?

Yeah, upgrade might be the only solution. I accidentally bought Alien coils instead of fused claptons and there was no way they were fitting in the coil posts!
The mod I'm using is the Smok Alien 220 which came with Baby Beast in kit but no reason why I can't just get the TFV8 (only $60NZD - $40USD - & comes with RBA). Might be my only solution.
Am going to give it one more go when coil kit arrives in a couple of days and stuff the thing with cotton but if I lose more juice I think I'm done with it!

Just noticed something between the RBA I have and the Baby beast RBA advertised on a website.
Mine has 4 holes around the sides, two each end along side the ends of the coil posts. The one advertised has just one elongated hole each end. Wonder what difference, if any, this would make to the leaking problem? Maybe one design was faulty so they moved to a different design..?
Have changed pic as this one shows holes clearer.

Check the seal on the bottom of the RBA where it all attached to the base. There was a video where a guy pointed out there where ground wires stopping it from being sealed. He has to gentle bend them in a way they wouldn't interfere with the seal on the bottom.

Alternatively, I'd that pour casket at the top isn't sealing up right that can also cause some leakage.

For me it is how the tank can open in your pocket. I loved the tank until I lost a full refill of expensive Errrm. Medicated liquid. So now that I've stopped myself tossing it, it doesn't get any "important" liquids..

Not sure if this has been asked before, but does it leak with the original premade coils?
Have you replaced the top white seal/gasket?

Personally I never liked or had success with the RBA deck. I have never had a tank leak on my or one that I could not figure out why it was leaking. Until I got the Alien kit with RBA.

One day would would vape great with no leaks, the next day it would leak everywhere and all over my mod. This would sometimes happen on the same day while using the same coil/wick/everything. I tried replacing all the o-rings, top white seal, etc..

I finally just gave up on it since I had other better tanks to use and did not want to risk damaging any of my mods because of the leaking.

Good luck to you and I hope you figure it out

Sucess!! I've had the RBA in tank all last night and today WITH NO LEAKS. Not even a slight sign of stickiness. And you know what, it was a wicking issue.
I got my 8 in 1 coils and some new cotton in a pack yesterday so I started from scratch replaced the coils that came with it with new ones and used more cotton than I would have thought possible (or appropriate) to shove into an rba. Almost 2 inches in length for each wick. Fluffed it up & then I jammed it down into the 4 little holes - it was tight as but then they were deep juice wells. I also did the 'burping' thing,
Three tanks fulls later and I'm still going strong - no leaks.
Thanks heaps for all the advice, really helpful & meant I could tick things off to sort out where exactly the problem was. Stoked!
(Still don't think I'd take my mod out & about with RBA in it, have lost confidence it not to leak. But still nice flavour booster for home vaping).
Have decided to get a new tank, probably cloud beast rba version. Baby Beast just doesn't hold enough liquid for my vaping requirements anyway and given all the comments online on the baby rba leaking I recon it's always going to be problematic.

SublimeHaze: yeah I watched that vid with the little wires sticking out of coil base but mine didn't seem to have wires sticking out as he showed. All wires disappeared behind seal when bottom of coil was compressed so figured it was ok.
As for that little Smok sliding swivel top, oh yes, it has swivelled open on me as well. Thats one of the cons of the design, just not as secure or stable as being able to tightly screw a top on. And yes, there are certain, lets say 'specialised' liquids you just don't wanna risk loosing, even a drop.
I don't know what those coloured Smok rings you get with a kit wih ’Keep On Vaping’ on them but as a back up thats what I use to put around the lid part. It's not really tight enough but is just enough of a barrier to stop it swivelling on it's own.
Not the best aesthetic but better than loosing a tank full any way you look at it.

Great job! When it comes to your own builds, the truth is the coil itself is no biggie. The wicking is where the art is, and it's something you sorta figure out by practice and feel. I've been building only a little while so I have to pay attention to my wicking as it's not something I can do with my eyes half closed.

I recently got a tank with a pretty unusual deep juice well that takes a massive amount of cotton to fill. First time I wicked it I thought "plenty in there" and nope, the juice dumped right out. Second time almost double the amount of cotton, thought "this looks plain nuts and will never pull juice in" and it worked like a charm. Live and learn.

I couldn't agree more regarding the wicking.
A coil and tank is only as good as the users wicking, I had to learn it the hard way back in the day.

Wicking is the root of leaks, dry hits, weak flavor, etc..
I rewicked my friends tank using the same coil /juice he had in there, the flavor literally doubled. This is especially true when it comes to temp control builds too.

Too much wick will choke the juice from moving, too little wick will cause leaks and not enough cotton touching the coil surface area causing early hit control message.
