I've seen a lot of RTA threads today, so I thought I'd start one and give my thoughts on the Troll RTA, and give a place for anyone else to chime in with their thoughts.

First, this tank is good. Probably not the best RTA, but it's also my first dedicated RTA (until now, I've been building on the TFV8 RBA). But it's not bad. All the hype about how good the flavor is on this tank, was not overstated. The flavor is outstanding. With that being said, there are some things one needs to keep in mind. While the deck is big enough for any number of different builds, simple builds for flavor seem to work best. A simple macro coil will work better than a Clapton or Alien build. The unique Velocity style, coupled with the raised deck (almost a cross between an RTA and RDTA), and how it affects the airflow, is what makes this tank a flavor chasers dream.

Second-in order to get that flavor, certain aspects of this tank need to be babied. The post screws are horrible, so you have to be careful with them, so you don't strip them out. I haven't had an issue with the PEEK insulator burning or melting, but you have to be careful when pulsing the coils. And it takes practice to wick it right. I tried the techniques that I seen on various YouTube videos, and it gurgled and leaked. So i just did what I do with my TFV8 RBAs, and I've had no leaking, no dry hits, and it's been wicking like a dream.

So, it takes a bit longer to coil and wick, because this tank does need babied. But, the flavor that you get is, in my opinion, well worth the extra effort.

There was a Troll thread running on here, but it petered out so it's back several pages. Wotofo The Troll RTA

I like the look of it, but the whole PEEK insulator position/melting risk kept me back from it.

Yeah, that insulator freaked me out at first, but if you're careful, it shouldn't be a big deal. I don't run it at higher wattages, right now at 45, so I'm hoping it doesn't become an issue. The main problem some people were having was during pulsing the coils, but Grimm Green held his fire button in for a few moments with no problem. But I'll have to wait and see, and keep hoping. :p

Hi an sorry for this very late comment. Recently got the Troll and am struggling with a build. I've got the iJoy rdta combo which works beautifully but is not practical for taking to work. I'm using a regulated device, iJustS which runs at 50W. Tried to do a similar build as the iJoy, 26ga kanthal, 5-6 wraps 3mm. Immediately realised this wouldn't work as it leaked juice profusely. The coil was too small and the cotton basically on the airflow. Tried the same build but spaced the coil, ramp up time is good, no leaking, but no flavour and minimal cloud. Not sure what to stick in it, can't go bigger due to power
