Could someone in the know please comment on the TCR settings of this mod?
Will its range allow for builds with some of the more "exotic" wires besides Ni and Ti - SS, NiFe30, etc?

Only downside I see to this is no onboard charging - I mean the port is there why not use it?
The tcr range is .004-.008 (did I forget a zero?), so rather limited. I think that's a bit lower than ti01 and a bit higher than ni200. Stainless steel is below that range, but I'm not sure where resitherm etc sit.

Regarding the usb port, just speculating, but I believe it's because they want to avoid excessive returns due to broken ports. A micro usb port can be fragile, and as it's used for upgrading I think the smart thing to do is to simply limit its use to that. In my opinion the DNA200 should have separate data and charge ports for that reason.

,004-,008 is the tcr of nickel. no one video shows if the range Changes when you select titanium.
I don't think there's a different setting for titanium. The tcr of both nickel and titanium fall within the .004-.008 range.

DHL will drop off a few of these mods tomorrow. I suspect you can change this with the USB port. Usually single 18650 mods can be charged but I will confirm tomorrow. smok's Xcube 2 is a nice mod. They sent me 4 of them and so far everyone I gave one to really liked it. My only complaint was the TC is not what I am used to but the only mods I use TC with now are DNA 200s. If I compare the Xcube 2 to the snowwolf the vape is not much different.

By the way am I allowed to giveaway kit on this forum?

I think unless you're an approved vendor, you can't do it for promotional purposes. But you CAN use the Pay It Forward sub-forum to give stuff away, and there's nothing stopping you from doing it privately via PM to some lucky ECF member of your choice.

Titanium is 0.0035 so 0.004 is going to overheat the coil a bit. Then again the Smok XCube 2 set to the correct 0.0035 underheats the coil (requiring a +20°C-30°C offset in my experience thus far), so maybe it'll balance out to 0.004 being right on the Mini :)

I am tempted by this, because if they in future FW updates deign to lower the TCR to at least 0.003 that enables accurate Resistherm (0.0032), and if they would go to 0.001 (as they are rumoured to be doing on the XCube 2), then that's SS.

Though SS support would require the resistance reading to be milli-ohm, 0.001Ω, and if it really is a re-badged/hacked-up version of an older mod, then it probably won't be.

Hmm, $35 on FastTech, and with no battery it ships fast. That is pretty tempting actually. I just cancelled a $20 delayed atty on FT so I have a gift certificate and will be placing another order, so I can see this falling into my basket accidentally :) Worst case I always need to use temperature offsets on it, but I do that on half my mods anyway.

I’ve been using the Kooper for a couple of days, and have to say it’s becoming one of my favorite TC mods. The fit and finish is pretty good – better than expected for the price point. It has some rattle in the fire button, and the case is a huge fingerprint magnet but both issues disappear when the silicone skin is used. Can't say I'm nuts about the orange color if it, but the skin is well-made. The size and weight of the device are perfect for me.

I used it in wattage mode briefly and that seems to be working accurately. I don’t have test equipment to gauge that to be sure, but whatever I set it at feels like what it should be performing as at that setting.

Most of the time I’ve been using it in TC mode using Ni. Again, it’s feeling very accurate – builds that work well at 420 on my DNA and Yihi mods work well at 420 on the Kooper (which is a lot more than I can say for my eVic and iStick TC mods). Zero resistance drift. Haven’t tried it with Ti as of yet.

Dislikes are mainly with regard to the menu. You have to be very fast to select the choice you want or the submenu times out and exits. Fortunately, you can switch from temp to wattage, and select soft/norm/hard using shortcuts, so the main reason I’ve had to use the menu has been just to play with the TCR values. My other dislike is the delay from sleep – takes about a second to wake up.

Good news @hazozita thanks! Yeah the shortcuts on the Smok XCube 2 are good so that's great to hear they're here too.

In fact I will push the boat out and say that the Smok XCube 2 has the most usable UI of any mod. It's let down a bit by the exact implementation, but the principle is great and the overall usability still good enough to beat most/all others I think. Combines a comprehensive, structured menu with every possible combination of buttons for different shortcuts. Such as going from VW->TC modes as you said. And of course it wins big by having Temp °F/°C be on the up/down buttons rather than buried in a menu. (Though I wish it had then put Max Wattage in the menu rather than being on full auto.)

It's the best of all worlds - a menu so there can be many features, with more added in future; shortcuts so everything is quick and easy to access. It has a few niggles I dislike, and it could definitely have been done better - for example not using "tap on fire for next; long press on fire for select" in the menu, which doesn't work well with the huge fire bar and is needlessly complicated. Tap fire for select and only up/down buttons for next/previous would have been much better; I know they wanted to enable one-handed navigation with fire bar only, but it doesn't work well. But despite that, it's still the best I've used.

Certainly blows the DNA (+ clones) system of shortcut-only out of the water, and is also better than the Yihi which has a menu but non-structured and with very poor use of shortcuts.

Anyway, I'll be interested to see how the Kopoor compares - if there's timeout issues it sounds like it's a bit different, maybe not as good. But at least it's got the same principle of menu + shortcuts.

Oh, I'm terrible at remembering numbers :) If this is the case, then 0.004 as the lowest is a bit worrisome. I've not seen any testing of the device with titanium. I've tried to check reviews to see if it has both "nickel tcr" and "titanium tcr" settings, but it seems that there is just a general "nickel" tcr setting. Could someone who has the device check if there's a separate "titanium tcr" and check how the device actually handles ti1.

Also, to those who have the device, is there flutter/pulsing when the temperature limit is reached?

In any case, I'm quite sure that I'll be ordering this.

Yeah at $35 it's pretty hard not to! $10 less than the D2 on FT. I might get a D2 at some point too of course :)

One thing I do miss on the Smok XCube, which I assume is the same on the Kopoor, is lack of a Lock Resistance. It has no refinement, so the only way to correct a bad resistance is unscrew/rescrew.

Well, it does have Adjust Initial Ohms, which is an excellent, unprecedented feature - but requires you know the correct resistance to put in, and that it's within 0.05Ω of your current reading.

I wish there was a Set Resistance Now as well as that, it'd make life easier.

I'm just as accident-prone when it comes to items falling into my cart, @TheBloke. Almost wish there was a two step process when ordering vape gear where you have to confirm the order a few hours later before it actually goes through.

Also agree about the UI on Evolv and Yihi boards -- having to go into a menu to change something as basic as temp setting is a true pain in the backside. Even my $25 iStick 40wTC allows me to change temp on the fly by just a button press. Granted, the TC on that is not great in terms of accuracy, but at least I don't have to deal with a menu to make a change.
