John, in all those examples you gave, you were engaging in a level of personal mentoring that just can't be done on a message board unless you develop some kind of prolonged and personal one-on-one rapport with a faceless newbie. That's the problem. It's perfectly fine to demonstrate, tutor and recommend an APV to a newbie when you have the opportunity to get their undivided attention for a while, and even give them some hands-on experience. When you attempt to achieve the same thing without the huge factor of mentoring, most times you'll fall flat, confusing the hell out of them and sending them packing with their arms thrown up in frustration.

So, I'm going to modify, really clarify, my opinion a little. The Vmax is a fine recommendation for a newbie when the opportunity exists for some one-on-one mentoring. There is nothing inherently wrong with the device that would preclude its use by a new vaper. But when the information necessary to appreciate the device is mixed in with all the other recommendations for everything from a Blu to a Darwin, it becomes a confusing jumble that has almost no chance of success and is more likely to be counter-productive. Newbs just don't have the knowledge, and most lack the inclination, to sort out the wheat from the chaff in that type of environment.

"Newbs just don't have the knowledge"

Then we have a basic disagreement about whether or not a person of average intelligence can read everything I said in the "TMI" thread, over and over if necessary, until they can fully understand and appreciate the clear and significant advantages to vaping with VV.

And did you ever address why you were slamming me for recommending a non-ciggie-lookalike to the OP in that thread, who had expressed a passing interest in the Volt, while you recommended the e-Power 14650 over and over? That still has me thoroughly confused.

whoa... that's a lot of posts and info, some is personal between posters, some about the VMax specific.
Given what i think i am hearing, about it regarding being a "beast", that's cool, but in general terms, does that mean that when you set it at a lower voltage, say you have an expensive LR atomizer at 1.5 Ohms, will it be possible that more than say 3.2 volts will slam the coil?
That could be a problem no?
Or am I not getting the meaning of "beast" right.
I have a couple V2 Vari's myself, but open to new, different, better, and just plain "good".

Sailor, scroll back a few pages, I kinda touch base on the scope figures I got off my chrome VMAX. But to kinda give you a idea of how this PWM is working without going all indepth crazzzy. This particular PWM is going a bit over the voltage set output. Where most all PWM devices has the highest voltage seen to be what it is set at the VMAX goes well beyond that. Example:
Say you have the voltage set at 5V, The PWM is letting the voltage go upwards of 5.8V and down to 4.3 at the lowest but coming out on top with a average 5.3-5.5V not loaded. The Vrms comes out right at 5-5.2v underload with about a 70% duty cycle at 714Hz. This may seem like german to most but hopefully it helps sailor out a bit. All in ALL, this device is VERY impressive to say the least, especially when I was expecting a real P.O.S. Having all subpar quality from chipsets to build, needless to say,it's FAR from what I expected. And yes I do have a Provari V1 and V2,both of which have been collecting a little dust since I got the chrome VMAX around a month ago. I still love my Vari's and will maybe even still use the V2 at certain times, but for now, my VMAX's do everything I ask them to do no mater what it is,3ohm single coil,1.5ohm DC, tanks, everything without hesitation or error. It's just that simple. I honestly don't see myself buying another mod, I'm not a collector and I don't like to waste money on something thats going to do the same job as what I already have,I just can't justify the means. It just works.

I would say no, it is not a coil destroyer. I just did a series of very long burns at 6 volts on a 1.5 ohm dual coil (25.7 watts), and it took quite a while for the coils to burn up. I can vape all day at 4.5 volts, no problem, and could probably go higher if I wanted to.

And since you're open to "new, different, better, and just plain "good", then you will like the VMax very much.

chances are you are right about me liking one John, i just don't know if i would throw a HH357 Lr on it... i wouldn't worry about a 2.5 HH357 though :)

Try to keep in mind why Low Resistance was made in the 1st place also. Low resistance was generally made to simulate a 5v experience on a 3.7 volt device. If you have a Vari-Volt device you dont need to use LR. Put a 3.0 ,3.2, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0 ohm single coil or 1.5, 2.0, 3.0 ohm Dual coils on it cause it's still seeing 2, 3.0 ohm coils or 4 ohm, or 5 ohm ,etc.... Thats where vari voltage devices shine anyway.

What I'm trying to say bro is that an individual can enjoy a 510 device and they would be happy at that level! I know several of my friends that are happy with their regular 510 devices and think mine is TOO much for them! In that they are happy and satisfied with what they have and enjoy VAPING like we ALL do! :D

Yea but just because they haven't dripped a 901... LOL... just kidding.

I don't disagree about whether a person CAN read what you said. I'm highly skeptical that there is a reasonable chance that someone who was complaining about info overload (not an uncommon complaint) WILL read what you wrote, even once, let alone over and over.

And did you ever address why you were slamming me for recommending a non-ciggie-lookalike to the OP in that thread, who had expressed a passing interest in the Volt, while you recommended the e-Power 14650 over and over? That still has me thoroughly confused.

Again, you're confused. I had no problem with you recommending a non-cig lookalike. I had a problem with you recommending the Vmax specifically. Part of the reason was that it appeared the OP had been budged off of their position of preferring the volt. It was more than a "passing interest". They had just about been convinced not to go with the volt, despite other volt newbs lending the typical newb-to-newb advice. The idea of a kGo/e-Power was beginning to sink in. I wasn't recommending it "over and over". Don't exaggerate. I made it clear that the OP should simply get a larger PV of some type. Anyway, from what I could tell, they were trying to sort out the terms like, atty, carto, etc. Then, BLAM. Nothing but the Vmax will do. Read this book and you'll see why. Funny, I don't think they ever came back to the thread. Probably ran off and smoked a cigarette.

Ummm... 3.2V with a 1.5ohm atty is drawing just over 2.1 amps. Of course it will slam 3.2 volts on a 1.5ohm atty. The Lavatube will even do that. If that has a 5amp limit, you could slam a 1.5ohm atty with 6 volts. So, ukeman, the answer to your question is Yes. It is possible that more than 3.2V can slam the coil. At what point the coil pops is a different question, but unless the Vmax is exaggerating it's cutoff, or I'm mistaken about it being 5A, it most certainly can pop your LR coil. If you're using a dual coil 1.5ohm, your coils are 3ohms each. That's a whole different situation that equates to a 3ohm atty, not a 1.5ohm atty. 4.5-6V on a 3ohm atty is no problem. On a 1.5ohm atty, it will definitely be an issue.

The V-Max does look very interesting. However as of right now a Provari is only $31 more. If I was in the market for a new PV I'd get the Provari just because their current track record and reputation would be worth the $31 to me.

While every PV does have issues the current big names that have stuck around for a while have shown their devices have very low failure rates. What if the failure rate on the V-Max ends up being 50% because proper QA wasn't done? Not saying that's the case at all, but we just don't know yet.

That's just my conservative way of thinking.

All in all I think the VM looks very promising and I think it will be an extremely competitive mod when the price gets to be around $100 and I plan on picking one up after I hear about the durability over the next few months.

Note the original post ?

I see too many other items mentioned ... taking the thread off topic.
