smok tech zmax getting hot

Hello everyone! Just joined the forums and I'm having an issue with my zmax. I'm using an i clear 30 and a 18650 on it, and it seems to be getting very hot at the top of the lower threaded piece, basically right in the middle of the mod, only when vaping. I thought it felt hot with my hand so i put my lip on that area and pressed the button and it got so hot it felt like it would burn my lip. I am running it in between 4.5 - 6.0 watts usually, on rms mode. All the contacts appear to be clean, am I shorting it out or something?? I also noticed that sometimes the mod will make a funny sound almost like a zapping, u can only hear it with your ear up against it, and it only does it once in a while. Any help is much appreciated!! Thank you!

Welcome to the forums kdub, once you get 5 post you can ask the zmax group. Hope you figured out your problem.

Does it do it with all your batteries? How old are your batteries?

Also like Sthur said, the other group can most likely better help you with your issue.

Hello thanks guys, I know this post would be better suited to the zmax group I just haven't had any time to post much yet. John, yes it does it with either of my two batteries, they are both about 3 months old now, but it has been doing it for a while, possibly ever since I first started using it. I knew it felt warm to my hand but I had never put my lip up to it until recently. In my hand by the time it feels warm I am done with my vape, but with my lips I can feel it almost instantly when I start vaping.
