Zmax V5 getting a little warm please advise

Hello guys and gals I searched and searched for this because I didn't want to start a new unneeded thread but couldn't find any info. So I just got my ZMAx v5 using it with aw imr 18650 batts, 2.1 ohm joytech direct dripping atomizer at 8.5 watts. Now after a couple of puffs, the atomizer gets very hot and the body of the zmax heats up a little bit. Not uncomfortable, I can still hold it no problem, just a little warm. I even took out the battery after 10 chain puffs to see what happens and it's the same story, just a little warm, wouldn't call it hot at all, can still be held no problem. I am very concerned with safety and avoiding a venting battery, does this sound normal? Usually just the top part of the mod warms up around the chip area but sometimes the warmth spreads all the way down to the bottom cap. Again just a bit warmer then room temp I would say. Normal?

the transfer of energy plus the atomizer will create some warmth toward the top parts. you sholdn't be feeling the warmth all the way down to the battery cap. does this happen with all batteries or just the one thats currently in there?

my wifes vamo gets pretty warm on the body, but she has very hot hands even when its colder out there her hands are always warm. however the battery will still be its normal temperature.

I have two aw batts and it happens on both, it's kinda hard to tell if it's the heat of the atomizer heating it or maybe just my hands, I also have warm hands and I tent to sweat a lot

Thats very strange because I have run almost the same setup and haven't had that problem. I have noticed when my battery is lower on charge and I chain vape, it tends to warm up. I wouldn't worry about it because the zmax has pretty good ventilation due to the holes under the spring. I haven't run an atomizer at that high of a resistance on my Zmax though…maybe move around your resistance a little bit? I would not worry unless it gets pretty hot(too hot to be comfortable).

i run the similar but a protank or an evod. the only time i felt warmth was with the 1.8 ohm evod and had the zmax cranked a bit too high for a few vapes. have you tried any other tanks/atomizers to see if they do the same thing? if they don't that atomizer might run a little hot?

same thing happens to me on my nemesis. turns out to be my hands being too warm. after couple chain puffs, i took out the battery to feel the warmth, but it was almost room temperature. best way is to take couple puffs and feel the battery after.

I just got my second ZMAX V5 and this is the black powder coated one and it's getting super hot when I fire it. My air flow was a bit too tight on a Kayfun clone with my coil at 1.8 ohms. I was usinf the kayfun on my other ZMAX V5 and didn't have any issues at all. So I know something isn't right because it's getting real hot real fast. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

i THINK i MAY HAVE JUST FOUND OUT WHAT MY PROBLEM IS/WAS Ooooppps... Sorry about the caps. I just checked my Ohms again and the thing is vaping superbly but my resistance is too low for the ZMAX V5. It's at 1.4 Ohms right now. Which is odd because it was at 1.8 Ohms earlier when I wrote this post, and this thing isn't supposed to work with anything less than 1.5 is what the owners manuel says anyway.........Hrrrmmmmm

OK. I've heard of the Sigelei V5 running to as low as 1.2 ohms But I believe 1.5 ohms is the factory stated low resistance limit. You might be stressing out a less than stellar battery at that load as well. That could account for overheating.

IMR 18350 high drain rechargeable V2
Also I was mistaken about the ohms, the A MAX V5 says it won't work if your ohms are 1.2ohms or less not 1.5ohms I'll like I said in my previous post.

It may be high resistance @ the threaded connection.

After everyone's comments I thought about it and I have had these batteries for quite a while and they don't seem to last very long at all so this might be my problem. I'll have to pick up some new ones and see how it goes. Thanks everyone who answered my post, I really appreciate all your help.
