Well, when the entire device retails for less than a single wholesale DNA200 board, I for one can lower my expectations. Nobody should expect Mercedes level of service or features at Hyundai prices.

Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk

Using the same analogy though, if you bought a Hyundai which was advertised as having four wheel drive, you'd be a bit miffed if it only had 2WD and they were working on an update/fix to 'unlock' the full 4WD ;P

Even after reading through this thread I'm still very anxious to get my X Cube. Being an ex-PC tech and current gadget lover, I think this will fit right in quirks and all. I've been down the beta testing road, buggy software road, etc and as long as I can use VW and get TC working (with a little fidgeting) I'll be a happy camper. Can't wait until Vapemail Friday!

Edit: The only thing I don't think I'll like is not being able to control power in temp mode but I suppose as long as I don't get burnt cotton I can live with that. Just not sure why they omitted that.

I think the correct analogy would be If you bought Hyundai which was advertised as having 4wd you would be miffed if you got it home only to find it was a clown buggy that drove 6ft before the steering wheel fell off in your hands and the wheels and side panels fell off you would be miffed. And I am miffed I didn't want a clown buggy.

Well that was unexpected! They've just released a new TC Mod- the Treebox! Looks like the guts of the Koopor Mini in a wooden box! Looks nice, but after the Xcube 2 I dont think i'll be buying any more Smok stuff... Treebox - SMOK®

Oh crap, another new mod to try and it's a looker too. Must . . . stop . . . myself . . . from . . . trying . . . to . . . order . . . lol

SMOK XCube II SS TC Firmware Upgrade + TC Tests

DJLsb Vapes

Daniel does a great job in his latest video from Portugal showing how a Mac user can access the SMOK website for obtaining the latest firmware upgrade (ver 1.09.1) for SS wire (supposedly!). If your are into this sort of thing then I believe that this is well worth your time to watch. Daniel is a rising star reviewer in my humble opinion.

Yeah I think so too- he doesn't plug himself like some reviewers, and I like the fact that he actually took the mod apart to see inside it as well as doing all those tests- I wish my German was better so I could enjoy Dirk Oberhaus' review's but it's a good way to improve I guess!- Shame youtube doesn't have the capability for other bilingual folks to add subtitles!

Even some sort of auto translate text function like FB has would help.

Sounds like it might have the Koopor internals.

I think I have to fight a recent addiction of looking for the perfect "going to the bar" mod. For that mode of operation, what it looks like is almost as important as how well it works lol. A well finished chunk of brazil wood with those SS buttons and bezels is too hypnotizing -- should be as illegal as crack lol. As much as I shouldn't, I know I'm going to end up buying one.

Ah, that sounds a little like my illness- in Europe (i'm in UK) they're imposing Article 20 of the TPD May 20th 2016 and we dont really know how far the government is going to go in terms of interpreting the utter senseless crap that makes up this new bill, so I'm currently suffering with "Need to buy and stock up on xyz now in case you cant next year!" :( :( :(

The fact that they released an update within a few hours (i'm assuming to Fix Ti!) shows I think that they want their device to be well received and liked (and purchased!!) by the community, but you'd have thought they'd have tested such a simple thing in house before releasing it...

Getting a software release perfect when working ahead of the hardware release is a bit difficult.
They are rushing to get things right for THEIR Coil heads and those have just hit production.
I agree, testing should take some priority, but as stated - Their Heads, which is Their Bread and Butter. They would like to get it out, get feedback and make corrections from both the customers expectations and THEIR to be available Hardware.
Broken software is industry wide including Yihi and Evolve.

Beta is a polite way of saying WAIT while we let crazy interested people try something we haven't figured out yet.
I know. I have been a Long time Crazy.
That is not better development. It is restricted access.

Couldn't agree more- just look at the Palava's with the DNA30 and DNA40 which weren't firmware upgradeable and early adopters got stung with less than perfect code, and I'm still annoyed at the lackadaisical approach by YiHi- I sent them countless emails about the SX350's latest 2.6 (and now only) firmware on their site causing the chip (the sx350 not sx350J) to display voltages that no longer comply with Ohms law!!! There hasn't been any further firmware developed to correct this, and that was released 12 Dec 2014- and the SX350 chip is still sold and used.

As I said before at least Smok are trying, and it's sort of quite fun to be involved in the journey- am just glad I have a couple of mods that I can rely on for more 'accurate' temp control if I want it! ;)

I saw the xcube 2 listed as part of some daily reductions on this page - GearBest.com
theres no word on price but I think it'll be around $50 as it usually gets reduced to around that, theres other mods too with prices though currently like the evic vt
I just purchased another Evic TC from vapenw , body only, for $42.95. Hell, you cannot buy top grade batteries for this amount. The LiPo in the Evic is truly wonderful and the device is as well. Just my opinion here but, comparing it to other mods I have, I find I use the Evic much more than most. It is really a very good device. Oops, just noticed that this thread id for the X-Cube II. Sorry! But, I did also order another X-Cube body from vapenw a few days ago because I like it very much although it is truly a "brick"-lol.Great prices.

Finally found a belgium B&M that actually has authentic drippers and .... like all dem Philippines mechs and everything. it was damn impressive.

The owner let me try the xcube II with my herakles but something is off with it. the coil was starting to get dry. very unpleasant vape. even though it was set at 70 watts.

Fine on my sigelei 150. fine on my dna 200 but on the xcube my coil was running dry.

Wonder what the hell was up with that thing.

on a other note I now know that a vaporflask is stupidly comfy.

So I just thought I'd stop in and say that I entered a Cloud Comp this weekend. My device of choice? The xCube topped with a Velocity. I used a dual 10 wrap 20ga build that came out to .16. I'm happy to say I took first place (this is also the first comp I've ever entered lol)! I had the device set to Hard mode with 2 seconds of 150 watts (went to 160 watts with hard mode) then to drop down to 110 watts for the remaining time. I'm also happy to say that the top three places all used xCubes haha Glad I found this thread and device, thanks for all the useful info guys!!

theres some faster shipping options available for a few $ extra usually, especially now its not in the pre order stage, also theres another deal where you add the xcube2 to your cart at gearbest and the smok tfv4 and a 5 pack off tfv4 coils is added for free to the cart for $99.9, would usually cost a fair bit more separately
Original Smok X Cube II TC Actived 160W Variable Voltage VV / VW Variable Wattage Box Mod Support Bluetooth 4.0-99.90 and Free Shipping| GearBest.com
Definitely good if you plan to get that combination as the heads are quite pricey in most places, probably because theyre huge!
