Jim was vaping in the City Council meeting! He vaped all the way through, it was awsome!!!

Stealth vaping or normal? At a meeting in WV an anti starting coughing and wheezing when someone used theirs. The person promptly started puffing only on their battery (i.e., e-cig was inoperable) and the woman kept coughing.

The vaping was not stealth nor was it quite normal, but he did not hesitate to vape the entire meeting and then after the meeting while he was speaking the Thompson and with Adam Park he vaped as well. In fact Park requested that he "blow" the vapor into his face. HAHA. We will be contacting the council members one by one to set up meetings to make sure they are all educated befor the vote.

Thanks Everyone for the support. It truly was fun to sit and vape through the Council meeting, then when I told councilman Thomson that I was vaping, his eyes about bugged out, "You Were!?!" He said he saw and recognised me imediatley, go figure Vapoligy is embroidered on my shirt and very few on that meeting are as ugly as I am LOL. But it was amazing to have Mr Park come up and get involved in the coversation then offer me his cell number....serioulsy?????? Now this is a man I want to spend some time with, the Mayors right hand man and he is offering a Vaper his personal cell number, you better believe he is going to learn everything there is to know about Vaping vs Smoking :)
Special thanks to Gregory aka Placebo for your guidance and words of advice. And also to a great guy Boise Mike, who was there side by side at the meeting, hung with us after the meeting and defnealtey made sure that Councilman Thomson and Mr Park knew that it was not just a business owner preaching about eCigarettes, but also that regular Vapers are just as passionate. Mike You Rock!!!!

I'll give my side of the story.
After the meeting I was speaking with Mr. Park, the mayor's Communications Director. I explained how the way the exclusion was removed seemed fishy. On 10/5 at the informational Q&A session, without the council, the exemption was in the language. I told him how I spoke w/Mr. Blount the Assistant City Attorney about it and expressed my gratitude and Mr. Blount agreed that it was a harmless activity and made sense. Park mentioned that it was Councilman Thomson who had actually asked to have the exception removed and have the definition of smoking changed. Although Park said that Blount had said that it still wouldn't be enforceable.
Then on 10/18 at the public comment council meeting the information sheet didn't even say anythng about the exception being removed. It had been done during a work session. I stood up there and thanked the council for the exception before I rallied on about property rights, free will and other aspects of the smoking ban. Silly me. Vapers may have skipped the meeting thinking they were in the clear.
As we were talking Thomson walked past and Park tried to get his attention but missed him. I said, "That's OK. My bud Jim is waiting out there to shanghai him." So we talked a minute more then went out to join Jim, his wife and Thomson. But Park did tell me that there has been a lot more discussion about it.
We showed them our PV's and they seemed really receptive. I'm hoping that maybe they'll stop by Jim's shop for some Q&A. There may be hope yet. Even though they may say that the current version can't be enforced against PVs I'd feel much better having them specifically excluded. If that's supposed to be the effect, codify it in the ordinance.
I had sent an email to the mayor and council and I got the impression that Mr. Thomson may have actually read it. Promising? The vote is next week I think.
Fingers crossed.

ROFLMAO shanghai is such a forcefull term, he could have walked through me to get away :) But Ginger caught him before I could, LOL we had this whole blitz thing going LOL.
Actualy it was great, both Mr Thomson and Mr Park seemed genuine and sincere about learning more and hearing our views. Although we may not have gotten to stand at the podium, we did get some one on one time and to top it off, our little gathering with just 3 of us made the "Top Story" on the 10 oclock news. See the video below.
BTW yes the close up is me Vaping outside the City Council chambers, Hmmmm I am willing to bet if we do get banned, I will be the first to get cited

I hear ya Mike, It was disapointing, talking to the reporter for 10+minutes about Vaping and the most coverage we get is "Hovering around council members". But i know last night Ginger went on to channel 2 news and submitted a news story about Vaping and the ban. So who knows.

Jacinda, Thanks for the support and kind words. We may not be many, or the most powerful, but we are determined, so lets keep our fingers crossed that with enough persistance we can get Boise to be the first city to create an exclusion for Vapers!

It reminds me of the old song about the ant and the rubber tree plant :) LOL

Next time you're found, with your chin on the ground
There a lot to be learned, so look around

Just what makes that little old ant
Think he'll move that rubber tree plant
Anyone knows an ant, can't
Move a rubber tree plant

But he's got high hopes, he's got high hopes
He's got high apple pie, in the sky hopes

So any time you're gettin' low
'stead of lettin' go
Just remember that ant
Oops there goes another rubber tree plant

When troubles call, and your back's to the wall
There a lot to be learned, that wall could fall

Sung by Frank Sinatra in Hole in the Head

My dad took me to that movie when I was a youngster. It's not that old, you should see my mom!

I just spoke with Adam Park, the Communications Director. The final reading and vote on the ordinance will be on 11/29 due to elections, Thanksgiving and scheduling confilcts with council members. And it will be in the state capitol building because of evening construction that will be going on in City Hall. He said there would be signs posted on how to get there. Shoot, it's only a block or 2 away and you can see the capitol from City Hall.
His feeling now is that we may get the exemption put back in, especially after our demonstration of the devices after the meeting this past Tuesday showing how confusion between PVs and cigarettes would be a non-issue. And there's also the lack of any scientific data to show potential harm to bystanders, or even users. But he certainly can't make any promises. I may start composing another email just in case.
He suggested that I call him back at the end of next week to see what progress has been made. I'm putting a reminder on my calendar.

That is great news Mike! Gold star for keeping the information flowing and the fight going. Yeah the whole Thanksgiving and construction thing are going to be distractions and make our job alot tougher, but anything worth having is worth working for. Please let me know if there is anything you need or that I can help with. I was going to call him today and try to set up a meeting to go in and sit down with him since we had so little time after the council meeting. Let’s keep after him, but also lets start directly going after the other members of the council to try to arrange an educational sit down with each member.
Stanley sorry for the delay in response and also not recognizing you yesterday when you came in, it was just a very off day. That’s terrific that you contacted the council and mayor now for the next step we can’t just sit and wait for our exemption to come to us, we are going to have to go out and fight for it. The best thing we can do is get as many people writing, calling and emailing the council and mayor to let them know about Vaping and how it needs to be excluded. 1000 people politely protesting is much louder and more effective than a few people screaming, so let’s get the masses behind this exclusion. Everyone you know that Vapes ask them to contact the council. Family members and friends of Vapers, ask them to contact the council and mayor as well. Ask them to tell their story of how eCigarettes changed their life or their friend or loved ones life. Let’s get the facts out there about how they are a great device and should be seen as such.
If we can get the council and mayor to realize that eCigarettes are truly a good and beneficial device that can and has improved lives. Then the question of whether or not to ban them will answer itself. So keep spreading the word, keep educating and keep the information flowing.
