I can certainly see saying "No vaping in the classroom". But outside? I think a "No vaping anywhere on campus" rule is unreasonable.

Irrational, but not _unreasonable_. It is, after all, the campus' property, and if they want to include vapes in their smoking ban, they can do that. That said, however, if its a vape-only ban, I'd complain. In epic proportions.

I vape all the time at my college (not in class, though, lol). But, it's mostly engineers, so the quick explanation of "a nichrome resistive element used to vaporize a glycerin-based nicotine and flavorant solution" is usually met with some kind of nerdgasm. Campus safety asked me what I was smoking once, I explained the inner workings--he just shook his head and walked off. :D

You've obviously taken it upon yourself to educate the people around you and as a result it seems you have some freedom to vape in places that most of us probably wouldn't. That's pretty cool.

You've gotta remember though, that 1) most people are basically ignorant to what vaping is and 2) the admin, while acknowledging that ignorance, is somewhat forced to bend to it. It's not her job to educate everyone about what you're doing and why it's being allowed.

As for the threat of suspension... well... bear in mind that in a position of authority, being reasonable is generally far less fruitful than being forceful. It kinda sucks, but hey, chances are she doesn't like threatening you with suspension any more than you do.

I am a university student and I absolutely do not vape in school. ok maybe stealth in the bathroom but otherwise only outside. it is a losing war because even if it is accepted it will likely NOT be allowed inside, simply because cigarettes aren't. we know it's not the same thing but rather than deal with the confrontations and questions, public administration would find it easier just to ban it. I wouldn't openly vape inside without getting permission from public safety regardless of my beliefs.

as far as vaping in class, since I'm at a university, there are bars and restaurants on campus in the student center that serve alcohol. but drinking IN class would be ridiculous. get your fix outside of class lol
