Did you catch where Christina Mickey from smoke free WV was almost complaining about the Board going beyond the legal requirements, guess they were supposed to pass this with no debate.

"Mickey interjected, “They did have two public hearings, and they spent almost $600 advertising it in the newspaper. There were two public hearings. There was one at 12 noon and they had one in the evening. They spent $600 advertising it, above and beyond any legal requirement.”

Typical quit or die, sneak it in before anyone can object. I'll bet it was buried far down in the legal notices, along with the notice of applications for alcohol licenses.

I thought this paragraph was amusing
:p

Scott Bitner, “Normally they are not killing Taylor County. It wouldn’t be bad if you weren’t killing our businesses. Taylor County is already dieing. There is nothing to do in Taylor County. Where do the kids go? As soon as they graduate school, they are gone. There is nothing here, so leave us alone.”

There's something wrong with how the government works when an appointed board can institute wildly unpopular regulations and the citizens have no recourse.

I guess things differ from state to state, but I have to wonder whether West Virginia allows the citizenry to put forth a a proposition that is put on the ballot and voted on by everyone, not just elected representatives or even (in this case) appointed bureaucrats.

Reminds me of "out of control" government agencies like the FDA
which report to NO ONE.

Heard one on the radio today, not sure where it was but someone built a new baseball field and about 1500 people including the kids who were going to play that day showed up and a building inspector refused to give them an occupancy certificate.

The reason, the mirrors in the bathrooms were 1/4" to low.

Had a similar problem. My husband built us a new deck. The county building inspector failed it because the distance between two of the steps was 1/8" less than the distance between the other steps. He said it was a safety hazard.

After watching the video, I was curious about what HR 4078 might be. Found it. Love it!

The House Is Voting On A Bill To Freeze All Government Regulatory Action Until Unemployment Falls To 6%

Read more: HR 4078 - Business Insider

I would go a step further and ONLY allow new government regulations to be implemented when the unemployment rate is 6% or lower. Once it rises, No New Regs!
