At least tobacco smokers are not alone. Apparently even CANDY cigarettes aren't safe from government scrutiny: Ban candy cigarettes? Lighten up
Anything related to tobacco that is flavored or packaged in a way that can appeal to children is seen as fair game for a ban. If you oppose it you are portrayed as a person with no morals that prays on innocent children. I doubt any of the fruit and candy flavored e-juice will ever get approved even if others do.

Our Mexican members can tell you of raids in that country to seize chocolate "cigars". Those are illegal .. because they look like cigars.

If you read the lengthy transcripts of committee exchanges concerning Big Pharma's inhaler, several committee members objected that it "looked too much like a cigarette." That alone would be a reason to deny a product that could help people get off real cigarettes.

Hey, it looks like you're smoking a Tampon.

It looks like a pregnant guppie.

Remember perception. Perceptions are important. E-cigs will not be kindly perceived if they ever make it to an official regulatory agency consideration.

When I was knee-high to a gooseberry I loved something called "Spanish Gold" - strands of coconut covered in chocolatey-sugary powder. It was marketed to look like a packet of tobacco. Does this mean that future generations will be denied such pleasures? What a shame!

You know I had forgotten about that stuff for more than 40 years!! Ahh the memories.... I wonder if you can still get it.. quick google... you can !!!

Top 20 - Spanish Gold - Sweet Tobacco from The Oldest Sweet Shop in England, Nidderdale, Yorkshire Dales

At Six Flags Over GA, you can't smoke outside in the wide open. There are 2 outside areas in the giant theme park where you can smoke. Now, I totally understand in lines for the rides-- I think it would be really rude to smoke there even if it was allowed. But I am talking about walking around OUTSIDE in wide open spaces. It's part of GA's Clean Air Act. *rolls eyes* They enforce it, too!

I know this isn't candy, but it falls under the ridiculous category!

What about bubble gum cigars for when you have a baby...passing out cigars is a tradition...and what about the gum sold in baseball player pouch that is bubblegum "chew"

The FDA needs to work on other things...like PHB in plastic bottles...Walmart has banned the sale, but not the FDA. Thank goodness baby bottle companies have switch and now use PBH free plastic....
what about red food color #40 which is banned in the UK, but not here in the USA and is in a lot of food, and is known to cause cancer!!!

I could go on, but I'm sure most of you know it already...just needed to vent

Spain has a similar ban on candy cigarettes, maybe a lot of you living in the US think that the device is safe, but I can tell you this is not the case, the current design of e-cigarettes can bring them to a ban sololey by their appearance, it's time to move on from the current name, design and/or anything related with real tobacco products for this devices, this FDA issue is just the first one, a lot more will come.

i have an idea, the problem is the same as always non smokers see smokers as bad people who are puluting their air. Why don't we get them on our side. market ecigs to them like this.
Have friends or family who smoke? Tired of the looks of resentment from smokers who feel you are taking away their right to make personal choices. Tired off trying to get them to quit. tired of them smoking by you? wish you didn't have to put up with that smell? wish they would just respect your right to clean air.
Good news now we can all have what we want. buy them a (name your brand here). show smokers you respect their right to choose. offer them the choice that respects your rights. Buy one for the smokers in your life. if we all work together everyone wins. Rid the world of second hand smoke, buy one for someone you love.

maybe non smokers would help us if they realized we don't like second hand smoke either . we don't want to have to fight with them. we aren't try to force them to start smoking, they should stop trying to force us to quit. every one has the right to personal choice, no one groups rights are more important neither side should have to give up their rights. We don't have to keep fighting an endless battle. These products are the answer everyone has been looking for.

That's a very good idea, we need to make friends, not enemies.

Anti-smokers WILL try to ban this devices if the FDA can't, we need to tell no-smoker how this things work, how this devices and this technologie could save millions of lifes, included their own lifes.

We also need to educate the anti's that these PV's can be used with NO NICOTINE solutions.... There's sadly very little mention of that... all the articles and discussions I've seen make the assumption that these are delivering a steady stream of nicotine - no other options... and it really burns my hide to hear the term "pure nicotine." There's less than 3% nicotine in the lesser solutions!

The vape I may be smoking might me nothing more than VG (used to thin cake frosting), PG(used in cough syrup), distilled water(good ole' H2O) and flavoring agents(found in countless grocery items near you!).... that the vapor I'm exhaling is the same thing as smelling freshly baked cookies.

Indeed much less! The strongest juice is only 3.6%, the lesser ones are as low as 0.9%... pure nicotine?!? Deeeeeep breath.... Silent scream at the top of my lungs!...

The ignorance and lack of logic I hear in this debate is astounding. Of course e-cigarettes are made to look like cigarettes that is the whole damn point! What hope do we have in getting smokers to switch to the safer electronic vaporizer verison if they didn't look like a cigarette?

Many of my smoker friends only took interest when I showed them my white M-401 with a tan mouthpiece, ie the one that looks the most like a cigarette, they laughed at my DSE 801.

Wow did not realize the candy cigs could be still bought. I remember them lol. Not that they encouraged me to smoke. I smoked cause it seemed to be something adults did and I wanted to be an adult when I was about 14. the candy cigarettes were not a factor lol, I had the candies at a younger age. I remember the candy ciggies tasted foul and I did not like them lol, they were like chalk lol. Good find:)

It's happening everywhere. Almost every state has a clean air act. It's all BS. If they wanted *real* clean air, they would ban wood, and coal burning stoves, leaf burning, charcoal BBQ's, and any other type of smoke. Closing down all drive thru windows would help too.

At the Indianapolis Airport, you cant smoke on the property. They'll pull you over and give you a $50.00 fine for smoking in your car as you enter the airport.

We're becoming a nation of nanzy pansies.
