YIPEE!!! Home at last
I am currently a Respiratory therapist (insert joke here) and my wife and I are going back to school for nursing. I have been a smoker for many years and I want to try ecigs. My wife is not fully convinced so I am being the experiment. She has decided she will try mine. We Smoke about 1/pk per day each and we are always struggling to find the $$. Can you all lead us to a good (not cheap) inexpensive start and tell us what we will need (equipment and stuff) to get a good start? Thank you all so much I hope this will be a great experience that I can quietly steer my patients towards.:toast:

Welcome to the forums! OgreLokon has given some good advice! The only thing I would add is to get a few of the smaller sample size bottles of juices to try. I've discovered there is a wide variety out there and you can't always tell from their names what you will like or not like. I can tell you that when you start vaping, it's easy to avoid cigarettes. I would hate for you to pick up only one kind of juice and judge the entire vaping experience on the one flavor alone.

I HIGHLY recommend cignot.com. You can start with one ego kit since it contains 2 complete ciggs and each battery lasts all day. They are currently on sale for $59. (I think). Throw in a 20 ml bottle of juice or 2 and you will be hooked! The prices, service at cignot can't be beat. When you decide this is the way to go, and you will, get another kit so you both always have plently of battery power. I vape ALOT so I use one battery during the day, charge it when I get home while I use my spare battery. If you can afford it start w/ 2 kits, if not maybe just get one spare battery ($20>) If you end up with dead batteries you may be tempted to smoke those nasty analoga. And give yourself time. It took me several months to completely give up analogs. Now you couldn't pay me to smoke them! GOOD LUCK :)

Agreed, the eGo or Riva is a good unit to start with if you're not concerned with it being cig sized. As tigerlily said get some juices in different flavors. I'd add different strengths too, some 12, 18, and 24 mg. That will let you find your nic level and hopefully a flavor you like on the first try. If you're interested in the Riva check here Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510. It's about the cheapest you'll find right now. And if you decide to order pick up an extra atomizer or 2 and around 40ml of juices to keep you going a while.

Welcome fellow RT! Go trolling on here and you'll find that the Ego / Riva kit will give u the most success (Some popular co. here are running specials now). You'll need @ least 2 or 3 batteries to alternate and several atomizers, many types are available, but I use a 510 (appears to be the most popular). Juice flavors - well that's ur call. I will tell u that I thought I would enjoy the tobacco flavors. Big mistake! It turns out that I'm enjoying the fruit and candy flavors. Start with hi nic, not more than 24 mg. And experiment downward from there. Buy several different mgs. Sometimes ur craving will be more aggresive and that's when you should have the hi nic ready. There's a learning curve, you are the only one that can decide which mg.will satisfy ur cravings. I've weaned myself down to 10 to 12 mg. Been vaping since Aug. 30 and just quit smoking analogs altogether Nov. 1. Being in the respiratory field for more than 20 yrs, you as well as I know what analogs can do to you. Keep that in mind even if u enjoyed the stick.
Juice co. you might want to check out are Freedomsmoke usa, Mrs. T, Tasty Vapor, Vapor bomb. There are many good ones out there. Here's a link: Forum Suppliers List
Good luck in your new venture and ask all the questions you need to, someone here will answer or PM me.

Hello SmokingRt and welcome to ECF.

+1 on Cignot.com and the Ego. Get some juice and a few spare atomizers when you order. Shipping is free over $59.00 (which btw is the cost of the kit).

The kit includes 2 complete E-cigs and the charger and five prefilled cartridges. The prefilled cartridges will last the two of you less than a day. So, that's why you should order some sampler juices at the same time.

Atomizers can last from a few days to a few months, so you will need spares just in case.

The initial investment may seem like a lot, but when you consider what a carton of cigs costs, its pretty cheap. If the two of you are smoking a pack a day each, well thats a carton (about $61.00 here in TX) every 5 days. $360 a month or so. You can save about $300 a month. At least that's been my experience.

I just want to add that I smoked 2 packs a day plus for over 40 years and I haven't had a cig since the day my Ego kit arrived, back in July. Totally amazing to me. No withdrawals, no craving....it just works for me.

The hard part is finding the right juices. What tastes awesome to one may taste awful to another. So I won't recommend any specific liquids, just some excellent suppliers and you can pick the flavors.

Freedomsmokeusa.com
Backwoodsbrew.net
Vaporstation.net

There are many more good ones. Look in the suppliers forum here on ECF.

And also, welcome to the forum. Any time you have a question, post it here. Guarantee someone will help you.

Forgot to mention: FYI - you will vape more than you smoke, maybe twice as much. The reason - the nicotine content that you inhale while vaping is only about 10 % of a regular analog. Don't beat yourself over it like I did, until I read it in several places here. Make sure ur wife understands that or ur gonna be in for a doozie.

Wow! I'm a former EMT(P) and RT! Welcome aboard!

My first real PV was my Riva. a few weeks later I got an eGo 900mah and I love 'em both! The Riva will last 8-10 hours and the eGo will easily last from morning till I go to bed. I quit analogs completely the day I got my Riva. I couldn't believe how easy it was!

I started doing DIY juice a couple of weeks ago, but I buy juice from VaporBomb and Gourmet Vapor, too. Get yourself one of the Riva or eGo starter kits and several 5ml bottles of juice in different flavors. You should also try different nic strengths. I vape both 18mg and 24mg. You can buy bottles with different strengths to see which one will work better for you.
