I happen to be watching the history channels special on the assassination of JFK and they are showing the news broadcast that was put on the air and you can see the smoke rolling across the screen from the broadcaster's cigarettes that are burning just off screen. It struck me then the huge difference of perception that cigarette smoking has now compared to then.

It was in the not too distant past that cigarette smokers were looked up to as fashionable and hip, a far cry from the reception a smoker receives in today's society. I remember being able to smoke in hospital rooms with the patient and not get a second look provided the patient wasn't on oxygen or something.

This makes me wonder about what will happen if vaping is 'approved'. Wonder what the office (in my case it's an open sea of cubicles) will look like with vapor rising out of half the cubicles. Or will the planes add 'no unapproved electronic devices until we've reached appropriate altitude, some devices, such as phones, PDAs and electronic cigarettes' are not allowed during flight... then again, we used to have beer vending machines in our cafeteria.. times they are a changin

Damn people don't go out of your way to say congrats to Houdini or nothing for being tobacco free for 9 months, especially in light of the fact that a lot of us don't have 9 weeks off of tobacco cigarettes, some with less than 9 days!

Congrats Houdini, what nic level did you start out with, have you dropped it dramatically or are you still hooked on that stuff? I really do hope you have it down to nothing so you are not in any danger of ever relapsing since it's the nicotine that's the .....kitty.

ahh. those were the days.. lol I remember them well..
Smoked filled rooms. yes, you could smoke anywhere and ppl did..
Especially in elevators was pretty bad..

Just think today what ppl would do?

Yeah, I watched it too and didn't see anyone fanning their hands furiously, fake coughing and turning up their noses. Wonder if there were 'smoke allergies' then?? People dropping dead from second hand smoke? Where was Carol Browner? Probably smoking pot with Everet Koop.

Then again, if there were no smoking on gov't property, there might not have been any reporters in the police station, Jack Ruby would have been spotted or not allowed in and we would have had the 'trial of Lee Harvey Oswald' and might never heard of Mark Lane or the movie JFK.... lol.

Oh yeah...
Congrats Harry H.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks all. I'm still using between 16 - 24mg. Havn't thought about cutting down since I don't feel I'm doing any damage to myself this way but I guess I'll eventually start reducing nic levels.
