Hello to the forum members! I've been lurking here, gathering info, for about a week. I was initially confused about everything that is needed to begin using e-cigs, how to use it, and some other questions, but after reading here for awhile I was able to get most of my answers! I was still a bit leary of exactly what I needed to order, and didn't want to be talked into unnecessary products, so I just ordered a basic starter kit for the Joye510. I decided on the Joye510 after seeing how many forum members own one themselves. Thank you for providing a forum to discuss and educate ourselves about e-cigs. And thank you to the ones who post here- you have given me a wealth of info, opinions, and made my decision to switch to e-cigs much easier. I ordered my starter kit today and I'm excited about getting one!

I wish I had known about e-cigs before I ended up with acute sinusitis- I'm only in my 30s and have already paid a hefty toll on my physical health for my years of smoking. I'm also going to require reconstructive surgery on my nose! Sadly, I had a warning sign, about how dangerous cigarettes are, in my late 20s when I ended up in the ER for a spontaneous pneumothorax (lung collapse for no reason). I stupidly told myself that I'd only been smoking for 10 years and that I hadn't been smoking long enough to have any smoking-related problems- but I knew the truth and pushed in to the back of my mind. I just kept telling myself, "I've got plenty of time to quit smoking before cancer or other big health problems begin." That time has long passed.

This is only my 2nd serious attempt to quit smoking. I know e-cigs aren't 100% safe but it sure beats the many hazards of smoking real cigarettes. Plus, an e-cig is comporable to really smoking a cigarette so I hope it helps with the psychological aspect of quitting. I'm going to decrease the nicotine amount gradually and then switch to enjoyable flavors.

That's my story and I looked forward to posting here!

This looks like my first post a week ago. I did the same thing as you, lurked, read all the threads, and finally started asking a few questions. I have the eGo which is a 510 with a bigger battery. You can't go wrong asking in these forums. I got my eGo yesterday and have only smoked two cigarettes today instead of my normal 20. I even made it through a beer drinking session with a big bbq tonight without having an analog . We're glad your here!

Welcome to ECF. The 510 is where I started also and after smoking for around 50yrs. and trying everything under the sun to quit I was successful right off with the 510. I've moved up to many mods since I quit but the original 510 continues to work (my son has it) and still has the original parts and all are good after 7 mo. today. Good luck and good health.

Make sure you go ahead and order some extra e- juice. I just hit the 1 month mark of vapeing. When I 1st ordered I didn't order enough juice and ran out and went back to smoking real cigs till my juice arrived. This delayed my progress and was frustrated by having to wait on more juice. I would recommend ordering 30ml of different flavors from a reputable vendor ASAP so you don't run out. Look in the e- juice review section to figure out what flavors and vendor you would like to use for your 1st order. It gets very confusing so I would probably start by ordering a ratio of 80%PG/ 20% VG because this is what most vendors recommend as the sweet spot for most vapors then you can vary your mix as you read more and discover what you like and don't like about the different juices. Also order American made juice not the Dekang or it may turn you off of vapeing because most of the Dekang is pretty bad.

One things for certain...I was a professional smoker for 35 years. At the end I smoked 3+ packs of Marlboro Lights a day...everyday. No collapsed lung but my sinuses were shot to hades..Then the 510 arrived...No analogues since....I was as hardcore a smoker as you're gonna find. If you wanted to give me chit about smoking I'd tell you to mind your own damn business...I'm free from that demon now and very happy about that. My sinuses are better than EVER and I can breath so much better. BTW i laid down the MLs in Feburary. Now I've got all the high end PVs and juice from the best...No way does a ML compare with Tasty Vapor. Keep at it Brother,,,you've taken the hardest step and most of all...GOOD LUCK!!!

One of the many nice things about vaping is that you can have the fun flavors with nic too! I was a die hard menthol cig smoker and wanted nothing but menthol ejuice when I first started vaping. You will be amazed at how quickly you see health improvements and your taste buds recover. When they do you will realize how bad the cigs really taste and find yourself looking at flavors. I never thought it would happen to me but it did!

Thanks for all of the encouragement! I read someone's advice on another thread to think of it as switching brands as opposed to quitting smoking. That sounds like a great way to alleviate the usual anxiety a lot of people get when quitting- including me!

And really an e-cig, when used with nicotine, is essentially smoking so it would be hard to justify to myself to smoke an actual cigarette. I'm still getting the nicotine that created this mess in the first place!!

Oh, and I did order an extra e-juice. I don't want to have any reason to not be able to use my e-cig!!

Congrats! So inspiring! :)

1st I want to welcome and congratulate you. 2ndly no one knows right now that vaping is not in fact 100% safe. I'm not saying it is, but as of now there's not much to suggest it isn't. In fact nicotine has been found to be beneficial in some cases.

I'd be inclined to think that BT feels a threat, and would guess they're grasping at straws to find something to spread panic over, that hasn't happened yet, kinda telling if you ask me.

Just read somewhere that about 10,000,000 packs of cigarettes are sold world wide every MINUTE. I'm not sure how far off that number is but if you figure an average of $4 a pack, thats like 57 Billion dollars a minute. I never knew how staggering the numbers were but if you think e-cigs don't worry BT that figure should put it into perspective.

i basically did the same thing tonight and only had one analog. it tasted horrible and the only reason i wanted one was because there were 6-7 other people smoking. it's also nice hanging out with all the girls inside instead being out in the cold (i thought it was summer) with the guys just because i want a cigarette.

i normally would have killed at least half a pack tonight.

Actually 10, 000, 000X$4=$40,000,000. But your point is still valid.

I think these things are pretty awesome. Most of the time when I show them to someone they say "I think I saw those things in the mall, but what are they." Most people don't know much about them and I didn't either until someone showed them to me and then I found this forum and started researching further. Now I try to tell everyone I can about the eCig - I think I've already added many years to one friends life!

I think you'll love your PV. You might later decide to go for one with a longer battery life as since receiving both my eGO starter kit and the 1 510 battery i ordered..the 510 has mostly been on the charger! :) nevertheless the 510 is no disappointment and i actually enjoy the difference between my eGo and 510. So having the 510 laying around if you decide to go for something different later will likely not be a bad thing. I initially just wanted a 510 because the eGo's led is on the button and not the end...but it has a smooth hit and milder flavor than my eGo so it's like a different vaping experience.

But I hope it works for you like it has been working for me so far. You sound as ready to give up smoking as i was. I'm not looking forward to tomorrow morning when i wake up and am feeling the nicotine craving monster but...i am looking forward to not coughing for 30 minutes straight..or waking up in the middle of the night for the same reason. Just from one day of vaping my lungs feel better and my sinuses are alot clearer than they have been in the past month. I can take full lungs of breath and not cough.

I wish you all the luck i've had with these amazing devices. For me not smoking for a day an a half is an amazing feat. i can't wait until i can say it's been a week.
