smoktech DCT + Ego C help

Hi guys. I recently got into this and have a 650mah ego c twist.

My friend got it for me and he got me the vision ce4 v3 which i liked but found that i was refilling it far too much. i went to a vapor store and the guy working there explained how the DCT works and said everyone has a preference between cartos and clearos so i decided to get both to try out.

I just received a 3.5ml vivi nova and a Smoktech dct.

the vivi nova is brilliant. huge vaps, great taste, never harsh.

I just filled the dct (its the 1.5 +.2ohms) and on the lowest setting im getting almost no vapor, with harsh burning taste. not sure what it is but i saw a guy in a vapor store with the same setup getting good vapes and right now im ready to recycle my juice and throw it into the pile of crap ill never use again.

any ideas?

Did you saturate the cartomizer? That cartomizer is low resistance. I use that as well and I usually vape around 3.6-3.8 volts. Great vapor and taste is good. Anything higher would throw a chance of burning the cartomizer.

yeah thats exactly it.

i put some drops on the top, then filled the tank to 3/4.
every hit tastes like burning.

i tried at 3.2, 3.6, 4.0.

The cartomizer holds about 1ml of juice. So about 10-15 drops is good saturation. You can also do the "condom" saturation. The part that needs to be saturated the most is the bottom half of the cartomizer since the heating happens there (notice the hole that will draw juice in is actually close to the bottom not at the top?). When it comes to cartomizers its hit and miss, mostly hit, but some miss because of a few rotten eggs in a dozen. Try a new cartomizer and see if the results are the same. You may just need to vape the cartomizer a few hits to get rid of that burnt taste.

to be honest, if i take a deep inhalation, it burns like crazy. ill try again tomorrow but for now i think ill stick to the vi vi nova =/

Hey, it could be that your cartomizers are just bad, i have 3 of those crazy bruning no taste/vapor thinks here too. Try another vendor or some LR boge XL cartos.

that makes me want to just stay away from them tbh.

i did notice after looking at a few pics that my actual carto is longer than the tank and metal is exposed past the top. did they send me the wrong one?

thats basically what i did klynnn. the only thing was i didn't let it sit around before taking the first hit. could i have destroyed it?

You need to first fill the carto properly making sure it's fully saturated before putting it in the tank.

You probably didn't do the dry puffs enough, you will hear it gurgle and bubbles will come out of the pre-punched hole. If you get a burnt taste you have prob ruined the carto fiberfill inside and will need to use another one. Once they are burnt you can never get rid of that taste. I fill mine like that and have not had a prob so far and I never fill the carto first like some recommend -I just do it the way the video shows.

Also what type of juice is it could be too thick and may need more of the punched holes, mine is 80/20 pg/vg and is okay with the one hole.

hey scoopbb - i had your same prob. i bought a smoketech DCT - i thought they were JUNK. and i also had a vivi nova. i like the nova there okay but i dont like wicks and changing flavors and the wick taste ect.

SO some1 on this fourm thurned me on to these - Triple V Polypro Tanks

and OMG the 3ml tank is the best thing ive ever vaped on. greate taste SOOO ez to fill with the side screw and when u want to change flavor just pop in new carto.
ALSO the best part is they come w/ boge cartos. i am loving the boge LR cartos.. IMO sooooo much better then the smokteck dual coils. the single coil boges on my ego twist @ 3.7v is the best vape ive had to date.

and your prob w/ filling the tank, i hear ya. these tanks all u do is fill thro the screw hole. let it sit for 5-10 mins and then drop 3-6 drops on the filler material in the top of the carto to pull the juice from the bottom to the top. ive had no leaks, no burt taste, great vapor throat hit and flavor. and these tanks come w/ a pre punched boge in them alrdy for 8$! its a steal - i will rep this site to anyone there awasome. and if ur using an ego battery these tanks are PERFECT size on them. not to small and not too big.

also the site sells boge cartos that the vendor will pre test (so no duds come to you) and pre punch for use right away in ur tanks.

try these - i love them, my nova is now a "back-up"

sounds good but at this point i dont know if i want to spend more money on trial and error stuff =/
