As per smok's website, the App requires Androind 4.3 or higher to function.
Those with 4.2, 4.1 or older, can give xda-developers forum a look. Chances are, your device can be re-flashed with a custom ROM, which is based on a newer Android version.

    It kinda sounds like a lot of work but I don't know how hard it is to do.

    No harder than building coils or mixing juice. All the information is available, either there, or on the all mighty interwebz. Also, I'm sure there are plenty of tutorials on YouTube. ;)

    If everything else fails, I suppose I could help out whichever way I can. Either by finding the required information, or walking through the process.

    It will need access to Bluetooth and it will remain on until you manually turn it off. The app does not close it when you close the app.
    I do not know if this is important or not....just sayin

    I am truly a dinosaur. If it's not needed I'll probably download it and then not use it.

    Well that doesn't sound too bad. I haven't had an android phone in years but was just curious how hard it would be for people to do.
