Last I read, there were no authentic Sony batteries being released to our segment of the market (or anywhere we could lay easy hands on them). That would mean that ALL Sony batteries are either fakes, old, or pulled from other applications (laptop computer batteries). This was from a Sony rep... I give all Sony batteries a pass and stick to big name manufacturers that DO sell to our segment of the population: LG and Samsung. Am I missing something?

I have heard several rumors about the Sony VTC batteries many claiming to have confirmation from Sony reps... dicontinued... not selling to consumers... all old

I don't believe any of them. There is a huge demand from the vaping community so why would Sony cut off a steady revenue stream? It doesn't make sense. There are also vendors that sell nothing but authentics and they all continue to offer VTC batteries.

I'm pretty sure that part of the problem with some reps is that Sony is a huge company and the branch that deals with batteries is far removed from the parent company.

Okay, salesman spins tail. Much like claiming FT authentic items are really clones.(CYA)
Sony VTC batteries NEVER were approved for Retail sale. None of them. They are industrial/oem sector batteries.
Sony Factory was basicly Destroyed by Coastal Flooding. Sony Relocated and that means huge delays in setup, ramp up, catch up. OEM's first, industrial customers next, then commercial suppliers(supposedly contractors etc.)<<<<our break in the chain.;)
VTC4 have been back in stock and available at Trusted Name re-sellers for quite a while. VTC5(more industrial/oem) is behind in catching up and sells out FAST as supplies hit the warehouses.
VTC5 stock will eventually stabilize as consumer/vendor orders catch up.

I highly doubt Vendors like Illumn. RTDVapor, Orbtronic are going to go out of their way to sell a few counterfeit batteries and possible ruin their outstanding reputations for customer service and their credibility.

Hey peeps. Just back online today after 3 days of no cable... details:

"A tractor-trailer (semi truck) came down my street Wednesday afternoon... and hit the cable line hanging very low over the street, yanking it off my house and depriving me of cable service for 3 days -- no internet, no TV, no telephone. Repeated calls to Comcast -- on my husband's cellphone, since I had no phone -- explaining the EMERGENCY, got zero response -- they weren't going to send anyone out until the 9th -- a week of no cable service at all. So I woke my husband up this morning much earlier than usual and told him he could either fix it himself or be miserable with me.

He went to Radio Shack, bought a $4.76 coupler, shimmied up the ladder... and got it fixed. And Comcast couldn't find 15 minutes in their schedule to send someone out here to do that."

But I'm back, and I see this thread is still going nuts. :D

Do any of the mods with built-in batteries use the Sony? If they do then I doubt Sony wouldn't keep supplying them.

Likely NO. Built-in use a Bag battery design 1-3 batteries in parallel for higher mAh. I actually shudder to think what they may be using after seeing the inside of a few EGO's.
I do RC Air craft and some of the Better Bag Lipo's are Turnigy Branded. Others have no identifiable manufacturer and some are poorly constructed.(those I avoid)

I have crashed a few electric planes with no Explosions.........so far.

WOW! I'm glad your hubby is handy like that. I would have been going crazy! I haven't been on very much these past few days, either, due to traveling and finals, but at least I had the ability to go online. Comcast. Argh. :(
