Heh. We posted at almost the same time. Anyway, I did just go ahead and get a new top cap for my Magneto. Now I've got other problems and I'm leery of putting much torque on the 510 "adjustment" screw on the underside of the top cap.

First world problems..... ;)

Go to the hardware store and get a brass screw of a similar diameter to the pin.very mildly heat the screw, and screw it into the delerin. This should rethread the delerin, just take your time with it. after the threads are set, cut the screw down to the height you want it at, and sand the end down. You will still have the adjustability, just not the floating action. No more little springs to damage. Or if that's too much, just buy a new top cap for $10 or so.

Well hell, since you have a new top cap coming, you can tinker with the old one without having to worry about damaging it.

Also: It would be a good ide to take a multimeter to your mod and check for shorts. Just to be on the safe side.

Yes I do have plans for the old top cap.

I need a quick refresher on how to check for shorts on a mod using a multimeter. I have a fairly decent one (big, green, auto-ranging) but my yootoob searching isn't giving me results on how to use on a mod. I know the results I want are in there somewhere....I just don't want to do it wrong and destroy something or give myself a shock.

Muchas gracias. I knew it was something simple like that. Just....well ya can't be too careful, right?

Positive lead to the positive pin, negative lead to different parts of the mod. Set to Ω. If you get a resistance reading, there's a current flowing, thus a short circuit.

I continue to have issues with mine. I got a replacement top cap and haven't had time/tools/know-how to mess with the first one, but what do you guys do about attys that don't have adjustable 510 connectors? I can adjust most of my devices to work with the Magneto but it always involves having the center pin about 2mm past "normal."

I can't adjust the top cap's center pin to get any higher. I'd like to get my mits on one of the old top caps, with just the 510 connection. I can't find any place that's selling them, even after emailing a few places that sell the mod itself.

I love mine so far, hard to beat for $40, IMO. Here is mine with an Igo-W with an ekustoms top cap and capitallvapes drip tip:

hello, I just got my magneto v2 and tried raising the pin as well. It won't tighten or extend. I found out by loosing it and the white delerin just came out. Then realized it was spring loaded.
hope that helps some what.

I recently purchased a brass v2 with no logos from vapingcrazy. It had some bad wobble in 18650 mode. I played around with some ideas on how to fix it. I ended up sanding the whole mod down as it had some coating on it to keep the brass from tarnishing. After doing that I got out my soldering iron and added a bead of solder to the tube where it goes into the main body. Not only did it completely get rid of the wobbles but also improved conductivity. I have no drop in voltage on the mod it's self and greatly reduced the voltage drops in various attys. I assume this is due to increased surface contact as the threaded part of the tube is less than 1/4 inch.

Well that makes sense. I didn't think they were plated. Thanks for the heads up. Clean looking job btw.

Thanks brother. I hated the wobble. I only paid $35 but I wanted to get rid of the wobble. It's a great mod for sure. I must say that my nemesis clone hits harder though. I like both of them for different reasons.

Received the Magneto about a month and a half ago and I love it!! Im using an Igo-W dual coil build at .55 ohms, 28g kanthal, & cotton. Over my Bday week last week some buddies of mine was trying it out and the lock ring locked on mine so I had to take a vice grip to it. Got it to unlock again then my buddies had to play a joke on me and hide it piece by piece and bent my tubes and some one broke the threads on the bottom firing button, they are going to replace it but is there a way to fix the tubes so it wont be bent? I saw online that there is a replacement firing button for sale so im going to order it, then I will have 2 Magnetos. Brass & Stainless Steel.
