Ill have mine on Wednesday. Ill be using the battery that came with my evic till I do another order.

I don't know a lot about batteries yet, but I was thinking of getting this one

https://www.canvape.com/product-p/tf18650.htm

Cause its protected does that mean I will need to do modifications to the mod to get it to fit ?

I don't know the specs of that battery, but from what I understand; protected batteries are typically longer than unprotected, plus at 3000mah, that would make it even longer still.

For that battery, you may have to use all the tricks mentioned in this thread up to this point to get it to fit with flush seams and flush device.

I'd go with a different battery unless you plan on using that kind exclusively. If you mod the Natural enough to fit, You may not be able to use a non protected battery in it later without a lot of work. I removed the protection circuit off the protected batteries I had ordered and they work fine and are the same length as the non protected ones.

And of you ever plan to reach for the outer limits of wattage via the use of rebuildable attys, get a high drain IMR 18650. Without the need for a protection circuit they are much shorter and can handle the extra amperage of a high watt setup.

I don't suppose you could supply me with a link?

I'm ignorant about batteries. What does protected mean? It shuts down at a particular voltage or it's has some type of anti-fire protection in it? I see people say you shouldn't run the batteries below a certain voltage. In a mechanical mod like this what do you guys do? Take the thing out every 1/2 hour and check the voltage?

These are what I use, there's a 2000mah as well. If you search AW IMR you can find more sizes and probably a better deal.
AW IMR18650 1600mAh LiMN rechargeable lithium battery

The MNKE IMR can handle even more amperage. Using a lower rated battery in a high amperage scenario beyond what it's rated for can cause them to pop or leak.

If I understand it correctly, it keeps the battery from over draining which would put it in a volatile state. Since newer chemistries like LiMn are considered safer and more stable, they don't need the protection. Protected Li-ions can still become volatile and explode, and sometimes the overdrain protection fails altogether. Which is where the little holes in our mods and elasticity in our jaws come into play.

Oh and as far as what we do, you'll notice a drop off in vapor eventually that will tell you to charge up. Eventually you get an idea of how long they last for you, I charge once a day and that pretty much covers the 18650s but the smaller ones you need to pay closer attention to.

I don't know if they'll fit but I know you can get them for half the price.

From some quick research they'll fit. As for price , seems like being in Canada means you pay a little more for stuff but don't have to worry about shipping charges from the US. Also, if I order from them it will be here in 1-2 days as opposed to 6-8 days from the east in Canada and upwards of 2 weeks from the US. Ill probably just grab the 3400 mah and dump in the charger every night.

Chadsmo...You have to remember that if you have a very high mah battery like that you will experience a very large voltage drop compared to a Aw IMR 1600mah battery for example. You can't get something for nothing....something has to give. MNKE batteries have the best performance but they are only 1500mah. SO do you want a very long battery life with crappy performance or great performance and less battery life?

Thanks for the advice. Ill grab the 2000 mah for now, and then ill grab a few of the MNKE next month.

Just curious but am I the only one who bought their Natural for use primarily with 18350 batteries? I prefer the stealthy size and in fact my last the mods have been bought for 18350 batteries, the Natural, the Caravela, and the Ikarus. The Siam Cube started me down this trail...

I bought mine for the flexibility, but have found myself wanting to use it in 18350 almost exclusively for the reasons you mentioned. Love it in 18350 mode.

I use mine in 18350 mode exclusively.... Great size and with AW IMR batteries I's getting a good 10 hrs vaping time out of it....
