I'm very close to buying one of these pups.
Couple questions as I have read a lot about length and gap problems.
Planning on using with a AGA-T and with a KICK. and CGR18650CH flat top batteries

1/Will I have a gap problem using the KICK?
2/I saw some pics of the AGA finish matching the Natural Flat top finish. How was this done?

Thanks,

You cannot use 650 batteries with a kick, you will need to use 18490 or 500 batteries. With AW18490 batteries I do ahve a gap with the kick, which I locate at the bottom cap. Other than eshtetics it functions well...and battery life isn't an issue for as the power is regulated and I usually use a higher ohm atty with it...

Thanks for the quick reply. Thought something seems wrong with the sizing.
My search will have to move on as committed to 650s because of other device(s).

Cheers,

On the SMOK Natural:
The bottom (switch section) + the top (510 connector section) provide 15mm
The center tubes are 20mm, 30mm, and the optional 34mm.
The bottom cap can be adjusted out a mm or so, and the pos pin in the top section has a half a mm (maybe more) adjustment room.

So, we use:
  • the 20mm tube for an 18350;
  • the optional 34mm tube for an 18490/18500 (or an 18350+Kick);
  • the 20mm + 30mm tubes for an 18650 (or an 18490+Kick).

Seems that the 30mm + optional 34mm tubes would provide room for an 18650 + a Kick (with the bottom cap maybe gapped out 0.5 to 1mm depending upon the battery used).

I'm very close to buying one of these pups.

According to Turtle it SHOULD be possible. Waiting for mine to arrive from Scotland, then I'll decide on ordering the 18500 tube. :) I too have lots of 18650 batteries & devices, only a few 18490s (for my ProVari), and no 18350s.

    Hi all,

    First time on this thread. already from reading the thread I have one of my answers, but I have another. I'd like to be able to kick this device, but I'd also like to be able to use a battery with like 2000mah. Has anybody modded the natural with 2 of the 18500 sleeves, and put in a 18650 battery and a kick?I'm thinking it might work if you replace the positive threaded post that makes contact with the atty, with a brass bolt of the appropriate length, has anybody tried this?

    I got the 18500 tube about a week or two ago and just noticed that the 18500 batterys I have are too big for it... it leaves a gap. I didn't relize that I was using my 18490 button tops the whole past week with it. My 18490 batterys are a better company than my 18500's, so that why I just threw them in... for some reason I thought they where 500's and not 490's until I tried one of the flat top 500's and it didn't fit. So I put the batterys side by side to check the length and I like "how the hell is a 18500 button top shorter than a 18500 flat top", lol. That's when I remembered the buttons were 490's.

    So, with the 18500 tube you might run into some 18500 batterys that leave a gap. But the 18490's will work fine.

    You could do some sanding on the connections to give more room to fit the 500's though. And I'm sure a lot of differant company's 500's are slightly differant lengths, so some might not even notice.

    Intresting... the natural has two center tubes it comes with. If you use just the small one it works in 18350 mode, if you use both center tubes it work in 18650 mode.... if you use just the longer of the center tubes, it won't work with any battery side.

    The 18500 tube you can buy replaces both center tubes... so, maybe if I use the 18500 tube I bought with one of the two center tubes it comes with it might come out to the right size to kick a 18650.

    Not sure if I know anyone that owns two of the 18500 tubes to try that combo out.

    ok, so i have all tubes for my natural.. just recieved 18500 tube from e. vapers. I have 18350 flat tops, fitting no gap, stock small tube. I have cgr18650, flat top. fits no gap both stock tubes. The 18500 tube fits no gap with flat top 18500... Now i am *^%U^$#U$^# my kick will not fit, no matter the batteries or tube choices i have tride. I guess i can "CUT" the battery pin down inside, so kick will fit. At this time i am kickless & not cutting my natural, yet. I do plan on making new pins in the future, just not this month. I am open to a GAPLESS, kicked idea here. I would like my kick here, but honestly Natural is fine so far.

    edit again, kick only fits with a gap =/ still searching for correct combo. guess next step is try a magnet.

    OK, so with the new 18500 tube + original small tube. 18500 button top + kick = no gap.. nice, found it!!

    Humor me and do a quick check of something? Take the bottom cap off the natural and see if you can screw the rest down all the way.

    no humor here, i edited my findings after realizing the above post, was not firing with kick, 2mm short inside. battery not makeing contact. so my choice looks like "cut" battery pins inside to fit a kick, or try a battery magnet to fill the 2mm. I am not going to play with this device anymore today.... I will just leave kick in my BOLT at this time. But i think i have a magnet some place, that should get it working.

    I have spun all adjustments "out". IE top cap up/ bottom cap down. Also tried the reverse.. adjusted also the plastic insert in button tube. I cant find a fit... i wanted the kick in here, i will probably end up making a new battery pin for the base.

    I got a question about sanding down the connections... I sanded down both sides of the top screw contact (one the positive side of the battery & atty touches), and I sanded down the top of the bottom one (the one the negative side of the battery touches).

    Did anyone sand down the side of the bottom pin were the fire pin touches it and also sand down a bit of the backside of the firing pin? So when pressed both parts (the negative screw/pin and back of firing pin) of the connection being made have been sanded down to brass (if there's even brass in thouse parts)?

    Or did everyone that did connection sanding just do the top of the bottom screw that touches the negative side of the battery?
