I didn't realize that mod is mechanical, I guess the batteries would melt before the tube, so if both batteries equally fried perhaps a shorted connector/atomizerAnyone else in here ever have a problem with stacked batteries?
I really thought all the "don't stack batteries" statements were a bit exagerated...
But saturday I had two batteries burst into flames inside a tube mod lol.
Luckily it was in one of my Siam mods Cubes, so the batteries were the only thing that got damaged. (had to wash the cube to get the smoke smell out though)
Not sure what the hell happened, but im kinda worried now (Im not going have a mod on the table next to my bed at night anymore thats for sure)
The batteries were 2 blue 16340 joyetech batteries.
Cheap insurance, ...
Ain't nothing getting past end battery to vent out those holes in battery cap, maybe vent around switch hole but holes in battery cap is a joke on Vmax IMOThe space between the batts and the APV wall is necessary for proper venting to avoid explosion in case of a thermal runaway. Your sleeve reduces or eliminates that space. Solve for one problem, create another; compromises, compromises.

I gave it a try with and without sleeve, no air.If you blow air through the switch button I find plenty of air blowing out the bottom end cap holes. I'm not an expert in this area but feel that perhaps this would be sufficient for venting in case of a problem.

I tried with ss max, a little bit comes out

Yeah the tube just got hot as hell a few seconds after i changed the batteries.
Took the endcap of and smoke startet pouring out.
Most the wrapping around the batteries had melted away, but everything else was fine.
Just glad to hear no one was hurt bud. I always try to buy the best genuine batteries I can find to minimize such risk as much as possible. Still not a guarantee, I know.
Random, my friend, quit stacking batts in an unregulated/unprotected/mechanical APV, and always use LiMn (IMR) or LiPo batts in them. Don't use those Lithium-Cobalt batts, even if they have a PCB protection circuit in an unregulated PV. Please.
