Hey Lava....On my Fusions I usually stay at 3-3.5 volts, just start off at 3v and after 2-3 draws go up in .1v increments till you get that sweet spot you prefer. On dual coils I find that the 2.0, 2.5, and 3.0Ω ohm Dual Coils perform much better than the 1.5Ω DC's on the VMAX. I use the 2Ω DC's mostly at 4-4.4v, I think Fuzzi runs the 2.5Ω at 4.5v, and the 3.0Ω I run at 4.5-4.8v. Hope this helps.
** This is the main reason Fuzzi started this thread** Perfect example of a ideal post Q & A.....I think ...lol
Indeed J, I've run my 2.5 DC's up to 5.5v on a v1 vmax depending on the juice, with perfect results. I'll state again that the ST DC's were most inconsistent for me. Perhaps got a bad batch. The ones that worked well (1 of every 5 or so) were excellent however.
Although Lava_Man's question is very much one contemplated by this thread, I would also remind everyone that at no time was this thread intended as a 'love only' fanboy commentary for the vmax, hence the term 'quirks' in the thread title. Negative commentary, critique, problems with the vmax and solutions, design improvement discussions and respectful debates, all of this is encouraged also. Such information can be very helpful to both present owners and future potential customers.
There is a way to voice criticism on an 'owners thread' and a way not to. I'm sure most people know the difference yet some come here to bash the vmax just to stir the pot/troll as they believe this thread has a wider audience for their rants. You want to bash the device? Start another thread (some have). Provari vs. vmax? Buy American vs. Chinese? Well there are other threads for that too. Go crazy.
But an owners thread is just that. Anyone who comes here to say 'it sucks' without proper foundation or that we've all bought 'subpar' devices, or for that matter insult the very posters who have built this thread with positive contributions, is entirely inappropriate and simply have no place here. There are numerous people who remain quite happy with their decision to buy a vmax. Some respect should be shown for these people. They're not all idiots who don't know what they've bought. In fact, I think they're pretty smart to have selected a device that offers excellent value.
I want to personally thank everyone here who has taken the time and effort to contribute meaningfully to this thread. To the others I would simply quote Classwife's words, who states most eloquently:

Had to get that off my chest, back to regularly scheduled programming
