Smoktech Vmax Owners - tips, tricks and quirks

I took my Vmax and my eGo to Ace Hardware and tried different o-rings till I found the ones that fit snugly on each unit.
I have 2 lanyards that have a ~3" siring looped on the end that had clasps on them. I removed the clasps. I secured the o-ring to the string loop. I slid the o-ring on to my units and now I have a Lanyard set up for under $10. You can get cheep lanyards at Office Max or Office Depot.

Thanks for this idea; it seems the best so far. Did you just slip the O-ring onto the body and roll it up near the button?

Has anyone else come up with any other ideas or mods to attach it securely "above" the digital display (under the carto); as in maybe with a screw in adaptor?

In the video Chris is punching an 801 fusion, so the collar at the bottom acts as a stop--but it's on the carto and not the punch.

:)

Yeah, I should have been more clear about what I meant by a "stop". I like that Phiniac setup for that reason. I like the idea that every punch will be in the exact same spot on the carto near the bottom of the fluid levels in the tank. Of course for the other holes, I will have to slide it out a tad and eyeball a measurement for further punches up the carto. I plan to use the Boge 801 fusions exclusively.

I am personally trying to avoid spending $40 for a punch. I'll keep the Siam punch and Tiny Mite on my list of possibilities; might change my mind later if the Phiniac punch and saddle valve endeavors become a failure.

The Phiniac punch is the Siam punch--they just buy it from Siam Mods wholesale like Clouds of Vapor does. Same for the little nylon "tank tool."

As far as the saddle valve goes, once you get the hang of it it's quite easy and effective. The Phiniac/Siam punch, though, is easier (don't have to learn how to tighten it just right to hold the carto correctly) and it's easier to store and use. The Tiny Mite looks even more elegant, but it's out of my price range ;)

The tank tool is a god-send. I've got the stainless steel one from Big Daddy Vapors, and while it is beautifully made and wonderful at what it does, the $4 nylon Phiniac/Siam one is much easier to use. I never had a problem installing cartos in the first place, but refilling the tanks was a messy chore--with the tank tool it takes less than a minute and there's no mess.

OOPS, yeah it would have helped if I read the description of the Phiniac punch. It says right there that it's Siam Mods V2. Think I will just forgo the saddle valve and spring the extra 10 bucks for the Siam Mods punch.

Definitely going to get that tank tool as well. I never really had a problem filling the tanks, but a few times I could feel the catch/drag on the o-rings as I was popping the carto through the top. The little caps that come with the carto aren't effective enough to protect the o-rings, IMO.

I got the tank tool for pretty much the same reasons + it's cheap. I thought the little carto plugs worked ok for me but I just want to try something different.

got mine today and i love it. The only issue i had was when i first put the batteries in. It screwed in all the way but would not work. I unscrewed it a little then it started working. I used aw imr's. They fit fine. The spring was just stiff i guess. I took the batteries out and pushed down on the springs a few times and no problem after. I want a ss one also. This is my favorite pv. :D

I talked to ccv today, great customer service by the way, answered all my questions and said ss should be in possibly middle of next week.

Don't take this as written in stone. Lol

Btw anyone have more info on weight reduction of the vmaxes out versus the ss?

I almost went with chrome today, but patience may be a virtue if the ss is lighter.

Lord knows this provari weighs a ton and I am really hoping the weight on the vmax is less.

Anyone out there care to compare a current vmax with batts V a provari w batts?
Thanks
