Smoktech Vmax Owners - tips, tricks and quirks

Poor 510 socket on Vmax
Being that the end cap and the 510 connection are one piece it looked like this could be a problem down the road, all other aspects of this mod seem reasonable and it works really well, I am by no means trying to knock the product as I pretty much am neglecting all my other mods. If you have the socket a little over sized and cartomizer a little undersized problems with the threading are likely sooner or later so I have added a shorty 510 to 510 adapter that I can change out if some how the connector get stripped,

Well that last couple of days have been a bit of a roller coaster, my wife ended up on the hospital with a bad kidney infection and I unfortunatly had to ask for a refund on an atom rebuildable from Chopper. Felt like such an ... for doing it but had no way to pay for her meds, 10 pills of some really crazy antibiotics and it cost me $115 bucks!!!. So there went my second rebuildable that I had saved up for but cudos to chopper71 for being a stand up guy and not telling me too bad you paid it's yours.
So here we are today feeling bummed but it's payday and low and behold I got a nice bonus for some retro active pay that was owed from union negotiations 6 months ago....woot woot!!! . So at first I though I should go buy that atom again but after seeing that cov had the oddyseus iatty 2 coming and there were a few slots available I just had to get one so that purchase number 1(sorry chopper....i had too). Step 2, of to timeeast and bought me the new stainless steel vmax....woo hoo, only 2 left as I type this and there was 9 last night so I just squeeked in there.

Anyways when things go for a crap it always turns around when you try and stay positive!! This is such a good day!! And I'm out

Would really like to this thread to include information on the best rebuildables for the vmax so do give us the benefit of your report on the iatty2 once you've played with it.

Thanks fuzz, few days in and things are looking much better, it was scary cause we just had our second child and at first they thought it was an issue with her overies but found out after a scan that it is her kidneys that where bugging her, she was sooo sick it was terrible.

As for the rebuildable, you got it

Lethalp. i had this happen too me. push in on the spring alittle then try again but slowly screw on the bottom cap. mine did this when i got it but is fine now. I took the spring out and squeezed it together a few times with pliers.

Reporting back on my post about the new redesigned vivi nova from GV. Guys, flat out, bottom line, best tank I have used to date. Even with 80%vg/20% flv+dw this thing vapes like a freight train even on an ego battery. The flavor is outstanding. True and real, as good as dripping on an atty imo. Im not being a fanboy here for GV. I buy from alot of vendors, just the merits of the tank itself. Its a winner. Buy them. I truly say you will not be disappointed and again, they are rebuildable. Best $15 ive spent on a tank system, period.

I cruised over to the new Electronic Stix store and came home with a black vmax, and a couple sets of AW's for it. Waiting for them to charge now. They have to unit for $90 currently. Funny thing is that I only went in to re-up on the delicious key lime juice they have and saw they had dropped the price from that stupid MSRP SMOK wanted. I'm really hoping the QC on these is better than on the ovale v8 I just got. That thing is finicky and doesn't please me...

Well, I've gotten to spend about an hour with this thing. I got the rev-2 that defaults to 3.0 and the display turns off. Stoked that I don't have retina scorching red lights flashing my eyes. So far so good. Definitely hits harder than my chrome LT, is smaller, and lighter than it too.

I second that to what VANJ350 stated! I have vaped on the LT and Provari V2 and by far this is the BEST hard hitting PV out of ALL three IMO!

WOW ...A VMAX thread that actually made it to 66 pages without 1 back and forth bicker between members that hasn't had 1 warning or been closed. Who'd a thunk it. Is this what happens when you have a great bunch of folks with a actual head on their shoulders and know how to show a little respect for each other. Boy, am I impressed! I have 22 other VV APVs, so I'm not a newbie to more sophisticated and powerful devices. After one day with the Vmax V2, I want to chime in with most others on this thread and agree that it provides a superior vaping experience compared to just about any other PV I own.

I feared that I might be put off by the menu system, but it's fine. I'm big on knowing the true resistance of my atties/cartos, and being able to set the LED to display resistance with each hit suits me perfectly.

So far, I haven't felt any need to set the voltage higher than 3.3v, despite trying a bunch of different carto types and resistances---Boge and Smoktech single-coil LRs at 1.8-2.2 ohms, IKV and Smoktech single-coil SRs (2.5 ohms), Boge SRs (3.0 ohms), ultimate CE2 clearos and X7 Micromizers from 2.5-3.0 ohms, and even SmokTech 1.5 ohm dual coils. Alone or in tanks, the Vmax doesn't care. It drives all these cartos beautifully with full, powerful hits, plentiful vapor, and terrific flavor. I'm impressed.

Will the Vmax replace my 5v regulated bottom-feeder with an HH357 3.0 ohm atty? Probably not, but that's perfectly OK. It might, however, make using many of my other VVs a bit less satisfying, however. I'm not suggesting that the Vmax vape is twice as good as my other VVs. No, that would be over-the-top and untrue. Just enthusiastic hyperbole. But it is accurate and truthful to say that the Vmax vape is often noticeably better---maybe 10%, if I were to put a generalized number on it.

At this level of vaping, 10% more satisfaction counts as a meaningful improvement on the technology.

The next questions will be about how well the Vmax holds up over time---in three inter-related ways: in the performance of the unit, in my continuing enjoyment of the vape quality, and in the mechanical/electrical durability of the device itself. No way to know the answers to those questions today. Time will tell.
