A little background on me
Newish vaper, a couple of months
Currently using an eGo-C
Want to upgrade to a VV
I've been looking primarily at the Vtube, mostly based on price, but a local started talking to me about the Vmax, he uses a couple of GLV-2's
So in trying to digest this thread I'm starting to lean towards a Vmax instead of the Vtube and all it's iterations
Ive been looking at the vivi nova and its probably the most appealing
So here are a couple of newbie questions
Where should I get the Vmax? Ive seen it at CCV and Vapingzone, and I seem to recall a coupon for one of them, I'd like to make sure I get the "latest" version
Like I said, I'm leaning towards getting a ViVi nova tank, do you have any suggestions for an alternative method of delivery?
Both retailers mentioned throw in a set of batteries, I'm assuming a second set is suggested, and AW is the preferred brand, is this correct? I won't ask about the magnet thing, I'll keep reading
What charger should I get?
What else should I look into getting, any adapters, rocket boosters, or anything I'm just not aware of?

Yes you will and DO NEED rare earth magnet spacers. In my own testing with 4 pair of the E'fest brand 1 of the 4 pair worked without a magnet spacer, how, why, you ask??....... I HAVE NO FRIGGIN' CLUE. Even I could NOT find 1 logical reason how in the world these "recessed" flat top batteries were making contact in my VMAX's. Sometimes they wouldn't and I would have to fiddle with them by twiting them a certain way and waolaah...they worked. Then nex time I put them in they wouldn't work to save my life. So this is what I found out and what I drew my conclusion to:


ALL FLAT TOP BATTERIES NEED A RARE EARTH MAGNET PLACED "BETWEEN" THE 2 BATTERIES TO PROPERLY WORK IN THE VMAX OR ANY STACKED MOD, IN DOING SO YOU SAVE YOURSELF A LOT OF QUESTIONS AND HEAD SCRATCHING AND PURE AGGRAVATION !!!

Lonnie, I hate to bring bad news brotha but if I were you I would NOT use the 1.7 ohm cartos on the VMAX. Those work best on 3.7 volt ""LOW AMPERAGE" dedicated devices, like your 100mAh Riva/eGo. NOT THE VMAX. Every person who has tried it on their Vmax all said the same thing HOLY *%#$*$$**@#* BURNT TASTE !!!!!! Yes even at 3.0 volts. BURNT,BURNT,BURNT !!!!!!!

yOU CAN TRY IT but you might not like the outcome, and if you do get the burnt, it's NOT the carto, it's what you put it on. I would HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend sticking with 3.0 and up single coils or 2.0 And up Dual Coils, I've tried and tested every ohm, carto, atty, CE-?, out there and those are the absolute best results I've gotten without 1 tiny issue. Just my 2 cents, take it as such. Take care.

Wow this is the easiest yet, anyone else that wants to chime in please do so.
I'll keep this super short and real simple for ya.

1 . Cheapest VMAX with FREE SHIPPING....CCV .....and batteries.....E'fest batteries.(just as good if not better than AW now)
2. Charger... Ultrafire WF-188 intelli-charger or intelligent i-4........SuperTmanufacturing or CCV
3 VIVI nova....not a clua but I want 1 too...hey buffalo guy..lil' help here please !!!!!
4 Magnet spacers will come with the batteries from CCV unless he gets the button tops in before you order. (today/tomorrow)
5. If you want a awesome tasting / performing carto, 801 fusion cartos by BOGE, and both sites listed above will or should have the 510 to 801 adapters you need to use them on the VMAX. CCV sells the fusions tho.
6. If you have a pretty fast car, a supercharger always makes it much faster and a lot more fun, or a bigger one if youe car came with 1 like mine did. WOOOO BABY fast !!! Hope I covered everything. If not my trustworthy fellow members will cover anything I missed iM sure. lol .............Good luck .................J

I do not have any cartos that high in resistance. My experience has been this:

1.7 single coils = NO. Instant burnt taste.
1.6 dual coils = MAYBE, but not for me. Short enough drags and I can avoid the burnt taste, but the "throat hit" is more like gargling a chainsaw. May be different for other people, though, as I am not a big fan of "throat hit" and seem to experience it compleatly differently than anyone else.
2.0 Boges = YES. For me, anyway. Highest resistance I have, and I keep them well-irrigated in a tank.
Genesis = OH HELL YES.


The above is based on my experience (which often differs from that of most people) and is only my opinion (which sometimes changes and varies in relevance and popularity).

It's exceedingly rare that I get to submit a technical addendum to one of J's posts so Ima siezing this opportunity

The other thing to consider about LR coils on the vmax is that your starting resistance will not necessarily stay the same. I've seen 1.7 coils drop to 1.2 after some use. This will generate an f1 error on your vmax and that's if you're lucky. If you're not, they'll drop to 1.3 or so and the 3.0 indicated volts of the vmax (v1) will be much too hot for them resulting in that familiar horrid burnt taste.

I've actually used some 1.7 DC's in a tank with good results on the max. Provided they stay at 1.7 the 3-3.3 range of the vmax (depending on the juice) will drive them properly. However the results are very inconsistent due to the varying QC issues of the ST cartos. If you're going to go ST DC's, you're far better off choosing the 2.5ohm variety, but even then I've also found the 2.5's terribly inconsistent. Just to reiterate, the 2.9ohm 801 Fusions provide a great vape on the vmax, with or without a tank. And although I'm only on my 3rd one, they are very consistent in quality, particularly the all important filler material.

While I'm not going so far as to say avoid LR coils at all costs on the vmax, it certainly is apparent to me that there exists a higher probability of satisfaction if you opt for the higher ohm options and avoid the ST's altogether, at least for now, until their consistency improves.

I'm actually loving my new experience with the Phoenix cartomizers on the vmax and I'm getting more. It's just another alternative particularly for those that don't like carto filler. Very close to the 801 Fusion experience but an even cleaner taste and I've repeatedly sampled both back to back with the same juice to arrive at this conclusion. The Fusions give off a little more flavor however. They're both really good.

Im a lil late replying but as far as the vivi nova, I think everyone who has used any kind of tank should buy one RIGHT FREAKIN NOW! For $15.00 its really an incredible value.

Look, the build is solid. The attys have held up. Ive been running a 2.8ohm atty in it for almost two weeks now. Cleaning is mostly (for me) a simple hot water rinse with soaking the atty in alcohol overnight maybe once every three days. Plus, for those of you that like to rebuild attys, you can. (I dont and havent attempted it but there are vids on it over on you tube).

I have been able to confirm that Vision is releasing five different units with these replaceable/repairable atty heads. They will be interchangeable and available in 1.7, 2.4, 2.8, 3.2, and 4.0ohms. The HV atties Im still waiting on to be released.

Yes, even the newest stardust design is going to use these attys.

As far as flavor and vapor production they are phenominal. Granted its not entirely suitable for VV vaping yet. The highest ohms Ive seen is 2.8. Mine runs at 2.9 and its sweet spot is between 3.2-3.4 volts depending on juice. I have my wicks running long to the bottom of the tank but you can cut them down if you find flavor lacking. Common practice is to cut them like rhe stardust so the wicks just rouch the tank walls. Now, Ive found they are better long.... FOR MY juices. Again, Im 100% vg sans my flavorings and distilled water and I make all my own. I have tried shorter wicks, they muted flavor in my case.

I know everyone loves their DCT's especially (apparently) with the boge fusions. I havent tried that setup ao I honestly cant compare to it but from what Ive read... the nova, out of the box, just works, and tastes great.

The metal tanks are also a huge plus, and wayyyyy cheaper than glass for any caustic juices.

Seriously, buy just one and see. I am not disappointed by it at all and next to the money I spent on the vmax is the best $15 Ive spent vaping.

Oh and cyrus... the reason we can run 1.7ohm on the vmax and not have our juice burn out right away... is most likely cause we both vape all VG if Im not mistaken. Its combustion point is higher than PG. But much higher than 3.2v on the vmax with a single coil 1.5-1.9ohm rating will prolly fry the juice. Does for me anyways. I have a v2 vmax, you have v1 I believe.

I put both V1's up for safe keeping, I'm only using my Black V2, PROTOTYPE CHROME SLICK BODY, AND the new SS is all I use. I haven't popped a coil yet. ........Yet.

I've used CF wrap before and in order to wrap something correctly it has to be the kind that is heat tolerable to a heat gun or powerful blow dryer. Being the VMAX has tiny divets and creases here and there you will need .18mm or less for it to turn into those recessed places. The hardest thing to achieve with CF heat wrap is not stretching the pattern under the heat so much that it distorts the look of the pattern but still giving it enough heat that it stretches into the curves and dips and molds to the structure completely to actually look like Carbon Fiber material. I would say get some extra and be prepared to screw up the 1st 3 -4 times until you get the right pull, heat, tension and tool for pushing into the creases without ripping it.
