But I can't get into the menu at all, it doesn't vape either. All it does is flash the numbers while blinking the blue button led, then nothing.

i have red efest bats, both measured at 4V.

I have to say this is the 1st VMAX with a defective chipset. Smoktech has a 6 month manufactures defect waranty on it so your vendor should replace it after you send the defective 1 back to them.

I have just been informed by ECF administration that there is a strong possibility the Vmax will will get its own subforum in the near future. Certain VV Forum updates are intended and consideration is being given to providing a specific spot for the vmax. Although the timing is uncertain, as this will be undertaken as part of a larger initiative, I think it's safe to say we can all take this as a good sign.

I strongly believe that not only was the popularity of this thread instrumental for such consideration, but also the visible genuine desire of all the participants here to help one another, share information and avoid unnecessary friction. Thanks to everyone once again for contributing.

I think it will be very helpful to vmax owners, new and old alike, that the enormous amount of information compiled in this thread be better organized in its own subforum.

Great news Fuzz. Overdue in my opinion.

Vmax is great...only thing that sucks so far is the Vivi nova tastes horrible.

Have to say that the Nova V1 I have also tastes rotten on the Vmax, in fairness it tastes pretty nasty on everything else I have too.

I don't know if you can tell but I'm not a huge fan of the Vivi Nova.

Ok Grumpus, whats happening with your vivi?

Is it a version 2.5? Whats the ohms of the atty in it? Does it have short wicks, or wicks to the bottom of the tank? What juice and its composition Pg/VG? And last, what voltage are you vaping at?

Fill me in.

Oh and vapnj I ordered some of them fusions. Did you ever get/try a vivi on your vmax yet??

It's the 2.5 with long wicks with the 2.4Ohm coil. Vaping 50/50 blend. Tried everything from 3.3 to 4.5. Tastes horrible on my Vmax. I did try it on my box mod and it tastes way better.

On a side note. I can't get my Vmax to read ohms or battery with the LED on. Will only read current voltage setting :(

What does the LED display when you change the setting to "A" and "u" under menu 5?

You should be able to use the flat top if you put it in first.....followed by the nipple, as long as they are both the same Mah.

Ok figured out my earlier 123456789 flashing issue"I think"..

I went to change my batts and I had accidentally put in an efest flat top and a red aw 186350 w nipple..Heh

So 2 different batts don't mix well,I am using it today and so far no more flashing..

I also had a Version 1. It was indeed horrible. However if you're going to judge the two revisions since on that basis you are very mistaken. The atties on some v1 models (mine included) had a problem where the lead wires heated up before the coil and was burning the seal at the base of the atty causing a nasty taste. There were also issues with the 510 post being too long, cracking tubes, and airflow being too airy.

All of those issues have been addressed and resolved. Products do get better. Had I gone on my first impression Id think the same thing you do Dirk.

Have to say that the Nova V1 I have also tastes rotten on the Vmax, in fairness it tastes pretty nasty on everything else I have too.

First thing. Take out the 2.4 ohm atty and put in the 2.8. The others are useless on the vmax. Keep in mind because of the PWM on the vmax a 2.4ohm coil at 3.3-4.5v is really getting hit imo at about .5v higher. I cant run the 2.4ohm coils on my vmax at anything higher than 3.0v either. It tastes better on your box mod because the vmax runs that much hotter.

This is why Ive been bugging them for 3.0+ohm coils which Im told are being made.

Now with the 2.8ohm coil in depending on your juice you MAY be abke to run the vmax up to around 3.6v-3.7v. But start at 3v and work your way up. As the guys here have said in this thread repeatedly.... START EVERY NEW ATTY AT 3v and work your way up. (caps just for emphasis here) The vmax runs hotter that other APV'S. There are a number of posts by Vapnj and others that explain why in detail earlier in the thread.

If at this point you find flavor is still muted, (mine is not) then you can trim the wicks on either side so they just touch the sides of the tank like you would a stardust.

For those doubting the vivi novas, you're entitled to your opinion, but you are indeed mistaken.

Plenty of posts in this thread discussing the need for a magnet when using flat top cells. The short version is get one and your problems will likely be gone.

So you use the magnet for a better connection between the two bats right. I've tried putting some metal in between the bats as I don't have a magnet, didn't help it. I can't see how it would help any though, it wouldn't be flashing the display if the bats didn't connect...

I've just ordered a provari out of mere frustration.

They're flat and I don't think I'm using a magnet. Why do I need a magnet??

If you will lay two flat tops end to end on a level surface you will be able to see that some of them don't make a contact between the + flat top to to the - end of the battery ahead of it. On some of the flat tops you need the magnet to fill the space and make positive contact between the batteries. I'm guessing you are getting just enough connection to light up the display to inform you something is wrong. When I had that problem I just kept changing batteries around until I found two that worked. Haven't had a problem since.

Makes perfect sense to me....avoid the $.10 solution and buy a Provari instead.

It seems the replacement units sent out By the vendor I got my V1 from are later versions, yesterday I received a fully operational V2 complete with 3 volt start:(

I guess the vendor though he was doing me a favor!

I sold my V1 to a colleague in work and stumped up a few extra Euros to get a chrome from a local vendor - it's not a "beast" but it's nice and shiny!

I'll get a V2 Nova at some point - thanks for the advice folks.
