I can't see for sure if you are putting a bigger slot in positive post , this is something I will want to try on next carto as I just put a new one in.
For those of you that have a dremel and don't care for the restrictive air flow you sometimes get with ST cartos heres a 5 second fix. The reason the airflow is tight is due to 1 main cause. Take a BOGE and a ST carto, flip em upside down side by side, connection's up. Now pay close attention to the air channel in the middle of the positive pole piece.(looks like a flat head screwdriver slot) Now look how deep the BOGE is compared to the ST and it's shallowness. Thats why ST have a much tighter draw. Sometimes that tight draw leads to the carto clogging and failing much earlier than it should. The caramelzation of the coils due to the sugars in the PG/VG chemical makeup are increased when the airflow is tightened or restricted. Some have a theory that the vapor left over inside the cart/atty acts almost like a left over resin if not completely cleared out creating more caramelzation on the coils shortening their lifespan. Their is an actual word for it but honestly I can't think of it for the life of me. OHHHH thats going to drive me nutzzz!!!! Anyway heres a few pics of a dremel tip I use to do this, and how to fix a tight draw on ST cartos(510 ONLY)....on fusions you simply make 1 of the 2 holes a bit bigger on the colar. Heres the pics ::

Basically I take the tip a hold it dead center staying with the slot on the positive pole, and just go edge to edge keeping the tip level and flat with downward even pressure. And if you do it correctly you get a nice gully from thread to thread with no damage to the threads and a nice deep air channel all the way across the bottom of the connection. Works great for ST cartos. And yes the slot is in the positive post, a complete even "U" shaped channel.

So then I am assuming u would frown on a quad coil carto as well! Lol ;). There is a place that is selling them for $25 for 5 of them and swear they are the best things on the market. I am waiting to see reviews....

I am working with SLB to bring a seven-coil cartomizer to market. Biggest problem right now is keeping it under four inches long and finding wicking material that'll deliver half a mil of juice a second evenly across all coils. thinking-010.gif

It's amazing what kind of over-kill takes place when marketing is more of a concern than quality and effectiveness...

I'm lurking here most of the time, but can't come up with much to contribute after so much good information has been shared. I find myself waiting for another installment from VAPNJ350! I guess we also have to pick up the slack for a fallen member!

I think part of the issue is that there are so many new products coming out that our attention span has shortened. I just fell in love with the Vision Ego and now I'm wondering what number of coil wraps to try to build one to take advantage of the Vmax. I'm thinking I need to get to 3.5 ohms or more so I can have some fun.

Another issue may be that we're all so happy with it and it is doing it's job so there's less posting about needed tweaks to keep it working. It's in enough hands that if there were a serious problem the thread would be hoppin'!

Well all that makes sense I guess. So the Vision eGo huh ? Can you post a pic of that 1 so I know just which 1 out of the many were talking about. Or gimme a link to where you ordered it from .....that might be easier. As far as coil Ω's go you might want to stay around the 3.2-3.6Ω coil for the VMAX. I've found with a single coil design thats a real nice range on the MAX. Not to cool....not too hot....and a thick white plume of vapor that would make a glass of milk jealous not to mention the perfect TH from the density of the vapor itself. But remember...thats my opinion. But you may find it a good place to start then adjust high or lower Ω's to find "your" sweet spot. Im running the DiD RA with a 5 wrap coil at 3.2Ω, and it's probably the nicest vape I've had....VERY enjoyable. I started with a 4/5 wrap at 2.4Ω @ 3.8v but found I could get a bit more out of it without any of the negatives involved and so I DiD. Now...it's just a real nice mellow vaping experience.

The Vision Ego's I got were being blown out by Vapage (big thanks to Hairball!) at $1 each so I gave in and tried them and SHAZAAM! I was skeptical after using various E2 varieties in the past, but these things work well. I should qualify this as I don't want much throat hit, but lots of flavor and clouds. They're iridescent with no scale markings and listed as 2 ohm, short wick with the metal spike, but they show as 1.7 ohm on the Vmax. The link is gone for the old ones, but here's the replacement Titan Crystal Cartridge 2.0ohm (2-pack) - overpriced and not 2.5 ml as they describe it, just 1.6. Pretty much what everybody else sells for around $5-6 each.

I get massive warm clouds on a 3.7 volt device but need more resistance to utilize the Vmax. Thanks for the 4/5 warning - I hope I can fit 5/6 in this little head. If there was a HV variety I'd be willing to pony up the cash for them to give them a try. The new swappable heads versions only go up to 2.8 ohms so far, so I'm going to need to start winding my own.

I'm hopeful that with the influx of VV devices this year that more HV cartos come out to give us lots of inexpensive choices to play with. I might have to just bite the bullet and go for a real rebuildable. I'm probably going to give the new Smoktech rebuildable a try if it's reasonably priced - I hope you (VAPNJ350) can play with one soon and give us your take on it!

I have been working on my Version 1 ViVi Nova since everyone was saying how good the 2.5 worked and now believe that I am getting satisfactory results. If anyone is interested it is here http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modding-forum/303173-vivi-nova-modders-15.html
#142 , I got all the ideas from other ECF members posts, pretty much 5-6 volts

Thanks for the ideas - just about to get a Nova tank and that's good stuff! I'd love to see how the coils look in that re-slotted setup. It's gonna be fun to work on new stuff to make it shine on the Vmax

My suggestion would be not to put all that work into a v1 nova. Imo, the 2.5 vapes excellent out of the box on a vmax with the 2.8ohm head at 3.4v-3.6v.

I noticed in that thread you said you would try a new 2.5 vivi head inside a v1 tank. While it will work there will be a slight gap at the top of the tank between the silicone cap on the atty and the top ss cap. This will cause vapor to back up inside the tank and may cause a little leaking if laid on its side. Just a note so you know.

Scrap the v1. Thats what I did.

Well I will scrap the idea of putting in 2.5 head and maybe get the smaller 2.5 ViVi Nova when available and do the same modification to it. The one I have is approaching performance of DCT , I can't imagine a stock one working at its best to close to this as I am heating a pretty big chunk of juice/wick. I only got 5 coils but my wick(s) are fat. This thing works way beyond well. Thanks for the info about 2.5 heads being shorter than earlier models,
