Did you guys ever see the white vmax with blue top and endcap, and smok and Vmax spelled with blue letters? Think it's some kind of special edition. Some guy posted a pic of his on a forum a while back (said he won it in a contest. I have never seen it anywhere else, but it looked awesome)

Hehehehe....I must admit I felt a little.....slutty...when I was looking into the Vmax too!
The 800 mAh efest batts are impressive and outlast and charge faster than my AW 2000 mAh batt with PVari using 1.5 DCTs. The Vmax does have IC protection so stack batts shouldn't be too big of a concern. I get 8 hours of regular vaping (work at home vape all day) from the 800 efest batts.
At this point (some will disagree) I would only spend the money to get the SS Version which I believe to be the most upgraded. The Chrome model addressed the reset and calibration but still uses the Version 1 button.
Features of the SS Version 2
Resets to 3v instead of 5v when changing batteries
Seems to be better calibrated...closer to true voltage
Has the familiar dimple cap pattern
Seems to have a better button (only know from what I have read, don't have a Version 1)
It's a Tri-bred, ProVari body, Buzz internals, Joye button and connector.
It has a great draw, not tight or overly airy. I flooded the connector with juice and let it sit overnight to see if it would leak...it didn't.

hmm, "better vs. worse" is way too subjective. You'll always start a firestorm with type of question/comment. I'm looking at the VMax pretty specifically for my DIDs. The Provari circuitry is way too sensitive for the coil setup. Once setup, the Provari works great - just getting tired of fighting E1's till all the hotspots are worked out so thinking with a 5a switch I can just bully/burn my way through them.

@Lazerred posted a neat trick for cleaning a coil by dry burn and quench under faucet (very light quench, not flooding) and I use that now for nudging the coil and working out the hot spots in real-time. Seems to work as secondary oxidation and cleans the coil/wick - two-fer!!!!

There's no question your heart's in the right place Optimo but IMHO that thread is the wrong battleground for a Provari/Vmax debate. OP wants a comparison between the Provari and Ego Twist. Should anyone in that thread start gratuitously bashing the vmax in the process so be it. We all know better and you're not going to change anyone's opinion that has a predisposition for vmax hatred for one reason or another.

I'd normally suggest CCV as that's where I got mine and it's perfect right out of the box. Great CS too. I note they're oos on the SS however. I see timeast has them in stock for $90 less 5% coupon + reasonable shipping. Never dealt with them however; I believe kurtus has so he might want to chime in as to his experience with this company.

I applaud your enthusiasm, but completely disagree. The one thing, a very important thing that the Vmax lacks is track record and support. The Twist is a game changer, a true VV with a proprietary battery for under $30.00. When...not if...your button goes bye bye on the VMax you will be looking at $100.00 to replace your unit.
I believe the button for ProVari is rated for googolplexian amount of uses.
There is nothing new or unique when it comes to the Vmax, it's just a good combination of qualities from APVs that are already on the market. Put an LED screen and a Ego button/connector on a Buzz and you have the Vmax. Too bad, Notcigs were the actual game changers but they just couldn't cross that bridge and provide a functions menu with a LED.

Interesting. I was under the impression that the Buzz units used step-down regulators to actually vary the voltage, not pulse-width modulation to effectively emulate variations in voltage. I wonder why they hit so differently. I suppose that if you slap an lcd and menuing system on an eGo Twist and make the battery replaceable you have a Provari...
The fact is that all the units are different animals. They all have their advantages and disadvantages, and trying to compare the surface similarities without bothering with the underlying differences is like trying to compare a GGTS, Provari and Jazz CartoPipe to determine which one is "better."
