Does the battery smell burnt on inside? Very interesting reading today sorry to here of problems but none the less most interesting.
Odd thing...just autopsied the battery...even though the wrapping is obviously melted and there was some kind of waxy deposit on the casing (what looks like melted aluminium),the casing is intact underneath...no a score, not a dimple, zip.

Mike at Eshots hooked me up with some...other than that I haven't bought any from a vendor yet. Got any good spots to get silica or SS mesh on the cheap? I tried using some SS screen mesh I got from my old job but It's too damn thick.

This is where I go for 325 mesh, they have the lowest price and they send you a free sheet with your order. Can't beat their prices....at all !!

http://www.themeshcompany.com/acatalog/325-super-fine-mesh.html

I get the one for 12.99 euros, it's like $14-$15 bucks for basically 2 sheets and the sheets are 12"x19" instead of 12"x"12" plus 1, 12"x12" sheet is usually $17-$23 bucks.

Yep, got mine there also. Wish I knew about the free sheets beforehand as I ordered 2, thus wound up with 4 which is probably 2 lifetimes' supply :) I think it's mentioned on their site but didn't notice at the time I ordered.

The 2 free sheets should be sent with your order automatically.....I would think. Have you already received your order Fuzz??

Yes, already got my 4 sheets. Maybe I can make a tea strainer out of one of them :)
Took about 10 days for delivery as I recall which is not bad from UK to Canada.

I'm putting my Vmax through the paces and i love it! It's doing something weird though, when i go to the #5 menu (ds- sub du) or #4 (Uc) to show batter voltage it shows literally "0.2u" - picture attached. I cant imagine that's the voltage as the manual states?! its still hitting great but im wondering if anyone else is having an "issue" like this.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/uuycdbmdpg3fqa3/Photo%20Jul%2023%2C%209%2040%2059%20PM.jpg

I noticed something else odd.. i exchanged the batteries and it reset to 3v, I forgot to push it back up to 5v+ and took a puff... it hit like a steamroller!! so I tested the voltage, it was ringing in at 7.4v so.. I pushed it up by .1v and maxed at 7.8v while reading 3.4v on the screen, then it rounded back to where it was supposed to be. its almost like it keeps going up at 6v on screen and continues going up till 3.4v on screen.. I dont know weather this is awesome or irritating... I have the "vmax" batteries in it (cant complain so far) and a 3.4ohm atty.. any thoughts? anyone else experiencing this ?

Any help would be appreciated!

Those 3.8 to 4.0 volts you were talking about on Young June 2.0, was that on the scope?
Tip...you can only get a true voltage output reading by using a oscilloscope. A inline volt meter will not show a true output due to the pwm.

@dwcraig1 && VAPNJ350 - I was not using an oscilloscope, but the V meter I have will read and compensate for the peaks. Regardless, I can tell you for sure it hits significantly harder at 3.0V - 3.3v than at 6v on the readout, and this is with a 3.4/3.5 ohm atty. so, just from heat and experience I can tell its putting out significantly more voltage when its set on 3.0 - 3.3 v than when on 6v (on Vmax screen).

I know the vmeter I have isn't ideal for PWM because it constantly peaks and you have to read peak to peak average, but im not expecting supreme accuracy, just round about. Regardless it echos what im feeling in my vape, its pumping much more current at the 3v than 6v setting..

Anyone else having the voltage readout on the Vmax show "0.2u" or "0.3u" it never actually shows the voltage left in the batts on the "4Uc" screen???? Im debating if I need to send this back or if its just a "fact" of the SS Vmax (called v4 by madvapes).

Im lookin for a silica wick vendor folks....that is NOT ...I repeat NOT clouds of vapor !!!!!!!!

Any assist would be appreciated........

This stuff is 1.5mm and I have lots of it for my ratank, works great, taste well there is no silica taste as long as you torch the coil section first. I find it eliminates that break in period of the silica giving a better taste right off the bat.Silicia Wick

Got a question, when you make your own coil how are you adjusting the resistance of the coil. Does more wraps give you more resistance or do you adjust the resistance by the gauge of the wire. Seems like what I have seen is everyone using 32 gauge Kanthal and seen some videos of it being like 1.8 ohm after they make their coil. What if you wanted to do a 2.8 ohm coil though.

Hello pals,
I thing that somewhere here saw a few words for trick to save settings on VMax?
It's frustrating every time when replace batteries to make whole settings again and again.
Please, if any one remember the trick - let us know.
Thanks in advance !

I don't think there's a way of saving the settings - I've taken the end cap off and timed the intervals and the unit resets within 5 seconds.

Yes this is now sounding more like a chipset issue, I recommend sending it back for sure, thats NOT typical characteristics of the standard VMAX at all. It's still under warranty...send it in.

The thickness of the wire and how many wraps both can play a part in resistance, the thicker gauge of the wire will result in less resistance, ...example: a 30awg wire wrapped 4 coils will probably give you a resistance of 1 or so Ω (ohms) maybe lower. A 32awg wire at 4 wraps will be around 1.8"ish"Ω. A 34awg wire with 4 wraps will be around 2.2"ish"Ω. To get a 2.8-3.0Ω coil (which is what I use with a V V device) Im now using 33 or 34awg with a 4 or 5 wrap. I've found using 30-32awg means I've having to wrap 6.8 coils to achieve 2.8-3.0Ω and sometimes theirs just not enough room from post to post or height with a vertical SS mesh wick to get that many wraps without issues, but that's just me tryin to keep it "SIMPLE"! Also SS mesh wick diameter can play a role in resistance...the bigger diameter the diameter the more resistance your wire will achieve . EX: if your wick is big around it may take 1 less wrap/coil to achieve your target ohms. GHope this helps you a bit.

Their has been like 3 times so far that if I change batteries "VERY QUICKLY" my voltage stays where I had it set. Their is no way to make it do this but the power that is left in the capacitors and regulator maybe even resistors...pretty much the left over power the board is left holding when the batts are taken out (very smal amount...like .08-1 volt maybe) somehow keeps the voltage setting for a brief moment ( like 15-20 sec or so) till the new batts are inserted. Is the VMAX suppose to save your setting ...no. Is their a way to munipulate it to do so .....no, not that I know of other than what I just explained.

DW, I was refering to amperage of the switch and it's limit not voltage. And yess ALL my testing of devices are done with a ...1st a handheld/portable scope ($86) to get my baseline and control numbers, then I go to the stationary LeCroy 312-A 100 mHz dual channel wavejet for my multiple sequence testing and do it multiple times to make sure I have as accurate "spot on" numbers as I can possibly get. And yes I was talking about the Y.J. Chrome V2 that I received about 2 or so weeks ago...I think.

Ok...so I think I got everybody covered here with the answers I know. If I missed anyone it's because I either didn't see your qustion or I don't know the answer to your question and Im not going to waste your time acting like I do and put bad info out there...especially on a thread that is doing so well with great information. I think the VMAX thread needs some kind of award or something....don't you guys ????? lololol.

OH yeah...Kurtus...thanks for the link...thats EXACTLY what I was hunting...1.5mm thick. Perfect.

TAKE CARE EVERYONE AND HAVE A GREAT DAY....I'll check back in later today.

Hi Everyone, Thinking about pulling the trigger on the SS Vmax from MV, Are there any major bugs anyone has found yet in the Rev 4? I think it will match up great with my Penelope..wish it was a bit shorter tho but ya can't beat the price:)

-Thanks
